About the Author

An Iraq war veteran, Grunn is not of woman born. Well... maybe not. His mother claims otherwise. Still, he's one of the most exciting and unpredictable pulp writers of our time. As a child he drew stories. Then he lost his love of tale for a few years. When he was twenty, he got lost in the wilds of Alaska and injured himself. Running out of food, he wrote letters on the back of torn and worthless topographical maps. Then he wrote a journal. Then a story. He hobbled out of the tundra, starved and crazed. He recovered, his love for writing rekindled. But it was still something he wrote on the side, in the confines of his room. They were never books to be the seen by others. Luckily for the world, in the past few years he's taken his stories and laid them upon the altar of public opinion. You can visit his blog at: http://aarongrunn.blogspot.com/ Grunn's books are: High School Freak, Alaskan Rivers of Blood, & Terror in New York.

Format: Paperback
This story felt odd to me, but also a version of reality. These guys had a different response to combat horrors, and that was decidedly related to their life prior to the army. The guys I worked with went law enforcement, these guys went vigilante. That being said, the tale rings true and the writing keeps you involved with the characters, turning pages or whatever and looking for the next installment.
Bob Johnson was a good choice for narrator. He gives voice to the characters and enhances them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do Both Ex-soldiers Make It Out Alive? 30 April 2014
By QA - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I received this book free from the author through LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review. The plot holds together well with many twists and turns. This book is about Justin and Sam, two former soldiers who served in Iraq. They left the Army under violent circumstances and have been robbing drug dealers in various European countries. They find Justin’s sister naked and brutally murdered and her boyfriend executed for stealing drugs from the mafia. The two ex-soldiers search for the murderer, plan their revenge, and execute their own brand of justice. You must read this book to see if both Sam and Justin make it out alive. A gripping and exciting read. I hope the author continues the story with another book.
