I studied the Communist Manifesto years ago. For a time, it even seemed attractive and compelling to me in some ways. Then I also looked at the results of implementing Marx's philosophy on a societal level. Well, THAT was an eye-opener, and far more study was needed -- of the philosophy itself, its history as a philosophy, the history it has (and continues to) produced, the living conditions its implementation imposes... and the inescapable fact that everywhere it has been implemented, people will RISK their LIVES to escape it.

One of the prime attributes of Marx's philosophy is that, with training and time, mankind can be perfected. This is a fundamental error. Mankind cannot be perfected; we are imperfect by definition (fallen, if one subscribes to a Biblical view). Any attempt to force perfection upon mankind ultimately becomes the most vicious type of tyranny, with large-scale murder by government as its final result.

It is an utterly FAILED philosophy, whose adherents have racked up - with conservative estimates - over 100 MILLION dead directly because of the application of the philosophy. Look it up for yourself: Stalin's 8 million dead by purposefully-imposed starvation (and do not neglect to read Solzhenitsyn's works, from a later time than the genocide in the Ukraine); Pol Pot's 1+ million butchered; China's 50+ million dead; Argentina under Marxist dictatorships... the list goes on and on and on.

Instead, spend your time reading and studying Bastiat (The Law), Locke's 1st and 2nd Treatises on Government, Adam Smith's Theory of Moral Sentiments - then on to Hayek, von Mises, Jefferson, Paine, Madison. End (or even begin) your study with the Constitution of the United States -- an excellent place to start would be W C Skousen's "The 5,000 Year Leap" or M Badnarik's "Good To Be King."

Studying the evil (yes, evil -- it spreads death by government edit everywhere it touches) philosophy of communism is worse than merely a waste of your time.

Mr. Morse put the tail on the donkey perfectly. Excellent conclusions and assumptions. Insightful. Manifesto is handy for anyone who hasn't already read it.
