Unlike my old school reports these guys never dissapoint - ten studio albums and not a single dud (unlike The Stranglers)!
The album has the feel of Strawberries, The Black Album and Grave Disorder all rolled into one, and it's another excellent offering from a saddly underrated pool of talent. My only gripe is the album cover, which looks like someone didn't get the art work to the printers on time!
The mix of Dave's vocals and The Cap's guitar (and all the different musical styles and influences they bring to the band) as always are intoxicating, and a special mention for Pinch, who has done an impressive job replacing the irreplaceable Rat Scabies.
After more than 20 years these guys still remain my favourite band. If only they could produce more albums and get a lot more recognition.

The Damned have created some of the finest music over the past thirty odd years. This album is a fine example at what the band do best.Crossing over between psychedelia, pop, prog rock, music hall and punk is a breeze for these talented fellows. May i add at this point that Captain Sensible's guitar playing has never sounded better and ditto Dave Vanian's vocals. It is hard to single out any track as my favourite changes with each listen. "Perfect Sunday", "Diamonds" , "A Nation Fit For Heroes" and "Little Miss Disaster" are all classic Damned that would brighten todays gloomy radio playlists. If you are a fan of "The Black Album" or "Strawberries" I'm almost certain you'll love this. Thanks to The Damned for some fine music.

Absolute class. The Damned at their very best. The best stuff the Damned have done over the years for me has always been a collaboration between the lighter poppy side of The Captain and the darker side of Mr Vanian. This has it all ,massively catchy singalong tunes and wonderfull melodic dramatic, almost operattic masterpieces and lots in between. Typical Damned. Put it on and you will never take it off. And if you do take it off the tunes will be with you all day. Genius.[ps] Saw them last night in Manchester and they are as good as ever, Pinch bangs away as fast and furious as anyone you care to name and Stu looks more comfy every time I see him. Great gig, cheers.

Dave Vanian , Captain Sensible & co are back with a 13 track monster..not one duff filler on the whole album (as if there would be)..you'll find yourself itching to play this over and over again.
Every song has a perfect hook to keep you going back for another listen and what a cool sleeve to go with it.
In a world full of so many new sound-a-like , bland , middle of the road guitar bands ,it's a 30 year old "punk/goth" band that sound the more refreshing and full of ideas , and go see them live if you get the chance..Brilliant!.

One of the finest works of the Damned. An opus with more of the influences of pop and psychedelica, thanks to the dominance of Captain Sensible in the songwriting, but So Who's Paranoid also has a couple of gothic classics. The stand-out moment is Dark Asteroid, one of the highlights of the Damned's career, a 17 minute long work of space rock genius in homage to Pink Floyd's Syd Barrett. This version of the album also includes three extra tracks not included in the original release.

The influence of Captain Sensible on this album is unmistakeable - a strong garage/psych' sound stamped with Dave Vanian's trademark vocal delivery.
This album needs a few plays to grow. It is however without doubt a worthy addition to the Damned back catalogue and shows what a coherent and well tuned line-up can achieve.
The song writing is terrific, in particular the fabulous 'Nature's Dark Passion', 'Nothing', 'A Nation Fit For Heroes' and 'Dr Woofenstein' (complete with gay male voice choir!)
RECOMMENDED
