A lovely song and a great remix CD of a very nice chilled summery light-weight house track. The first track - the micro 'Radio Edit' - is far too short for a song that improves with a build up before the simple but lovely vocals kick in, but very nice none the less.
The second track, 'Extended Mix', makes a much better job of dressing this as the super chilled loved-up sunburst that it is. It's also listed as the 'Original Mix' on some compilations but is the exact same mix, and it's great.
Track 3, 'Zinc Remix' was what I was initially looking for as I'm building a Zinc heavy playlist and the remix of this track is awesome - faster paced than the original/extended version, more beat-heavy but still cruising at the more chilled end of a playlist/compilation with some lovely synth-heavy breaks which give the song a slightly more varied/zig-zaggy path. It makes good work of placing and lightly treating the vocals too and doesn't drag, being just 15 seconds longer than the original.
Track 4, 'MK Remix', is another great version which has fuller (but still warm/not too harsh) beats and plenty of room for the vocals to begin with, then about a minute and a half in breaks into a more standard remix aiming for the typical soft house compilation CD and becomes a bit busier, but not offensively so, and it still retains the chilled feel of the original - just with a bit more energy/a bit more dancey here and there. Although it's nearly two and a half minutes longer than the original it doesn't drag and it switches between the sparse and fuller sounds very well.
The final track, 'S.P.Y Remix', is too harsh and abrasive for the vocal and just doesn't follow on well from the other tracks here. Even as a separate stand alone track it's difficult to know what the remix was going for. When it breaks into dubby/grimey spaces the vocal just doesn't work. The levels aren't mixed all that well either which probably makes the mismatch seem worse and stand out more than it should. I liked a few isolated sections but can't really see myself listening to it again as it's not a very cohesive track either way and tarnishes the song a bit.
But 4 out of 5 tracks being this good on a single remix CD is pretty impressive and I'm glad I found these other versions whilst searching for the Zinc remix.
This is not an album, but what we used to term a CD single! Works just the same, I guess, on download. Lovely tune. Heard it quite by accident on a YouTube film. Thought I'd drop in and see if it was available, and it is! Nice one Amazon.
