- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 June 2013So Five Minutes Ago is a short book by Karen Robiscoe and it takes place in a bar on Halloween. A group of people bantering with each other and insulting each other is a humorous and well-written little book. At first, I was thrown by the present tense, but after a page or two, you get used to it. The book delves into Facebook and how it affects our everyday life with status updates and the lack of interaction it causes.
If you want an amusing book to read, you cannot go wrong with this one. It is only about 40 pages, so it will not take long, and you won't regret it. I did not.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 May 2013I am not a big fan of short stories as a rule. However I really enjoyed this. It's layered and complex and long after finishing it, I am still thinking about it. It's also got great 're-read and I missed quite a bit on the first time through. In the second read I suddenly go all "Oh now I get it..." The language and wordplay made me smile throughout. Loved it.

michaelfReviewed in the United States on 2 October 20135.0 out of 5 stars A humorous critique on modern life
Karen Robiscoe's "So Five Minutes Ago" is a wonderfully written critique on the modern digital age. The author uses her perfectly honed sense of humor to create a simultaneously hilarious and profound reading experience. With characters named Mac and Hardcopy, and with the story taking place on Halloween, there is plenty of zaniness to go around, but underneath the laughs is a probing look at our modern society and the potential pitfalls of the digital age. If you enjoy good writing, humor, and smart, witty dialogue, make sure to pick up a copy of this deliciously entertaining tale. This is great reading!
LEAH NELSONReviewed in the United States on 5 July 20135.0 out of 5 stars Intellectual Ping Pong Match
So Five Minutes Ago is fast paced, funny, and provocative. It’s an intellectual ping pong match, as the dialogue and observations come faster and more thought provoking as the story progresses. The inescapable hollowness and banality of human interaction is deftly and humorously described, but the central characters do not make the mistake of passing judgment. They’re along for the ride and realize their own foibles by watching others take it to a ridiculous extreme. This was a fun trip down Ms. Robiscoe’s vivid imagination. Can’t wait to see what else the author comes up with.
