Format: Mass Market Paperback
For me, the strength of this book lies very much in the characterisation – both Casey and Turner are multi-faceted characters whom I was keen to unravel. So much of their pasts holds them back, and the book is essentially a journey in a microcosm that offers them the opportunity to shed their regrets and the legacies of their childhoods and early adult lives, and find happiness at last – not alone, but together.

The writer’s style makes it easy to get inside the characters’ minds and really understand them, and I liked how much emphasis she put on exploring their emotional plains.

I very much liked the backdrop of the Gingerbread Inn, and the fact that this story interweaves with two other books whose protagonists appear in Snowflakes and Silver Linings as Casey’s best friends.

Plot-wise, this isn’t a long book so there isn’t much scope for lots of action and twists and turns, but I liked the story as it stood, especially a moment of high-drama that led to the coming together of the characters. And the ending is bound to leave you with that happy, satisfied feeling you seek from a romance book of this nature.

In conclusion, if you like seasonal Harlequin romances, this one is sure to be a favourite on your shelf – well worth the read.

I was offered this book in exchange for a fair review via NetGalley.

This is charming Christmas story. The characters are likeable and you want things for them to workout.
a little action but most of story is about relationships in the past and the now.

They are gathered together to get the Gingerbread Inn opening for the Christmas Eve wedding.
Casey has had a tough life. She is a scientist. She has decided to give up on love and have a baby by herself.

Turner job is top secret. He has been asked by his friend to help and since he was in the states he agreed. His last mission went bad. He has to make some choices now. He has not been sleeping well.

Years ago Turner and Casey had spent 3 days playing together. Turner had told her that he had only the three days to give her. He was deploying then and he could not tell her. Now is the first they have seen each other since that time. They both have changed.

I smiled at quite a few scenes in the story. Their is a cute dog and little girl that touch me.
This is a quick clean romance story.

I was given this ebook to read and asked in return to give honest review of it by NetGalley and Harlequin.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Holiday Romance 5 Dec. 2013
By Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
4.5 Stars

This is a very sweet romance that reminded me of why I love this genre so much. Two people who shared a spot in time that meant so much to both of them for very different reasons. Thrown together again to help friends renewing their wedding vows, that one weekend spent together long ago brings back painful memories for one and nothing but good for the other making their time together difficult to navigate but with some surprise moments for both. Snowflakes and Silver Linings is an emotional journey that reminds us that no matter where you are in life or what you’ve done or experienced, there is still someone out there that loves you no matter what.

Military heroes with demons constantly messing with their minds are some of my favorites but also some of the hardest to read and Turner Kennedy is no different. He’s seen and done some imaginable things in his career and though he feels he started this mission for the right reasons he’s beginning to wonder if it’s enough, if he should keep on going or give it up. When his best friend Cole asks him to come and spend part of the Christmas holidays with him and his wife and help them with their vow renewal, he can’t say no.

There’s nothing Casey Caravetta won’t do for her friends, the Gingerbread Girls, especially after the passing of one of their close friends. So she’s more than happy to spend some of the Christmas holiday with them knowing it will be the only celebration she’ll have in what has been a not so joyous year for her. She just didn’t realize she’d come across the man she spent an entire weekend with many years ago, the man she lost her heart to being there was well especially when she’s decided to give herself the best gift of all.

Both Turner and Casey are some pretty messed up people. That in addition to the weekend they previously spent together leads to some interesting conversations, some great longing, and a fight or two. Among all the preparations for the ceremony and the holidays these two are just trying to hang on and be happy for their friends while figuring out where they fit in the world. It was really hard to watch them go forward only to move two steps back again.

Snowflakes and Silver Linings is not an easy, happy go lucky holiday story, but it is one of hope, healing and yes…love!

3.0 out of 5 stars Engaging storyline, likable characters 24 Jun. 2014
By Hope This Helps - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Rating: 3.5 stars. __G rated, no graphic sexual content.
Note: Stand alone read. 3rd of The Gingerbread Girls, multi-author series

EASY READ! Well written, poignant storyline, strong characters, good supporting cast, and a sweet romance. HOWEVER, the story is a little shorter, a little rushed, and lacked Colter's usual amazing descriptive imagery, attention to detail, and emotional impact.

THE STORY follows shy, serous, super-smart, Dr. Casey Caravetta, and war weary, special forces commando, Turner Kennedy. Before his first deployment years ago, Turner took Casey on an amazing, unforgettable, fun filled, "just friends" weekend adventure. Now years later, they are reunited at the Gingerbread Inn at a time when both are without meaningful family ties and facing major life decisions. Spending time together they unexpectedly find the same magic connection they experienced years ago and decide to find where it leads.

OVERALL, not Colter's best, but it is an engaging, old-fashioned romance with good chemistry. No one writes better heart touching romances than Susan Fox or Cara Colter.

THE GINGERBREAD GIRLS series includes Her Secret Little Baby Bump/Christmas Baby Surprise, Marry Me Under the Mistletoe, and Snowflakes and Silver Linings.

You may also enjoy the complex characters and storytelling of N. Bruhns, Anne Stuart, L. L. Miller, R. C. Ryan, or L. Wilde. For funny, heart touching romances with great dialogue and descriptive imagery, try Susan Fox, Cara Colter, B. Dunlop, and E. Palfrey.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Story 16 Jan. 2014
By Janet - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I did not read the Gingerbread Girls series, and this is the final chapter. I did wish that I had read the first two as the characters in this book are so interesting I'm sure their stories would have also been good. Even so, this book wraps everything up nicely. Cara Colter has offered readers a lovely sweet story, well plotted and peopled with engaging characters. I think it would be a great story even without the Holiday backdrop. I would definitely read more from Cara Colter.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect ending to this series about friendship & finding love 9 Jan. 2014

What a great ending to The Gingerbread Girls series!! The other two books in this series are
The Christmas Baby Surprise by Shirley Jump
Marry Me Under the Mistletoe by Rebecca Winters

ALL of the characters from the other two books join together in this last book to help celebrate with Cole & Emily as they renew their wedding vows. Yes, there was a love story(or two) but Snowflakes & Sliver Linings was so much more than that. It was a wonderfully written story about two people who go through some an amazing transformation and learn to let go of the "past issues" and to be able to move on with their lives.

Casey & Turner both have to learn to let go of the tragedies of their past and to realize that the path that they both were taking in their lives was only going to lead to more unhappiness.

I feel that all three of these authors did a fantastic job creating this 3 book series about three friends who go through life's toughest situations together and come out even closer(& happier!)
