This book follows the story of Hayley, a character we have previously met in Heidi’s stories about Wynthorpe Hall and Wynbridge. Don’t worry if you haven’t read any of the other books before, this can be read as a stand-alone book and will not in any way spoil your enjoyment. I promise you. Hayley is such an interesting character and just as you think you understand her something else happens. I do like Heidi’s characters they are interesting and complex and not annoying at all. I do so hate annoying characters in books.
After calling off her engagement, Hayley moves into Wynthorpe Hall and gets caught up in the magic and organisation of The Winter Wonderland. After a disastrous relationship she has sworn off men, that is till newcomer Gabe comes to her rescue. This book follows Hayley’s transformation and how she blossoms under the right circumstances and with the right person.
A great read, which I loved. I read this in a few days as I simply couldn’t put it down. Great characters, storyline, setting, lots of Christmas, just a wonderful read. I really need to reread all Heid’s other books again, as they are so good.
I absolutely loved being back at Wynthorpe Hall there is just something so magical about it there. I think its Angus and Catherine, they are such a lovely kind and welcoming couple full of love for each other their family's and everyone close to them, even the staff at the Hall.
I really enjoyed reading Haley's story, she is a lovely girl and I really felt for her at times, she seems to have no luck. Newcommer Gabe was a great character too, there is something mysterious about him like he is hiding something and its making things hard for him, and I just hoped it would all work out for him. Gabe reminds me of a knight in shinning armour, he always is there when you need him and he would do anything for you.
It is so good to hear about characters from previous books and know that everything is going great for them, I love it! It makes me so happy as they are characters that I have loved to read about before and it is nice to see what they are up to now.
I wish I was able to take my family to the Winter Wonderland this Christmas as it just sounded so perfect. They really do Christmas in style up at the Connelly's.
Snowflakes and Cinnamon Swirls at The Winter Wonderland has got to be my favourite Christmas book this year! It is the perfect read to keep you warm and cosy on these dark nights and get you in the festive mood!
This time, Heidi's novel follows Hayley, the Wynthorpe Hall housekeeper. Hayley thinks she's found it all, a good job, lovely friends, and a good looking and cheeky fiance Gavin. However, things turn upside down when Hayley finds herself wishing she never got close to Gavin in the first place! To avoid anymore gossip about her life, she moves into Wynthorpe Hall and doesn't look back. She starts to love her job even more and new arrival Gabe is one of the reasons behind that.
Hayley and Gabe both have their secrets, (Gabe's was so heartbreaking!) but can they put it behind them to start a relationship together? We go through so much with this couple, and it was such an engaging and heartwarming read. I absolutely loved reading about the Christmas and festive events that take place at the Hall and at Wynbridge. It was honestly just to heartwarming and I adored reading about the sweet treats that Dorthy made or the crafty festive items on sale by the girls at The Cherry Tree Cafe.
It was so lovely as well reading about some of the characters which has made an appearance throughout most of Heidi's other novels. Although these characters pop up every now and then in this novel, you don't have to have read the others in order to understand them. It just adds to the magic that all the characters are the same! It really adds to that lovely community feel that all of Heidi's novels have. Overall, a beautiful festive read.
