5 Stars!!!

Paige has landed an opportunity to prove her party planning skills, this could be the career break she has been waiting for. What could possibly go wrong?

This sweet Christmas novella was perfect for me. I was on the look for a festive read and found this little beauty. The story is creative and captivating and was an easy flowing read that I really enjoyed. I found the story didn’t lack depth or detail and wasn’t rushed.

Paige is funny, courageous, and smart; she knew her job and she knew it well. She was a lovable and enjoyable character who had a way with words. It was hard not to find yourself laughing at her dilemma’s or mishaps.

When we first meet Ace Carmichael he comes across self assured and a little arrogant. However, as the story develops we are introduced to a more complex and intriguing man who finds himself opening, up to the woman he hired to throw him a party.

Their story may start as a little fun, however its clear how much Paige brought out the best in Ace and he too helped her to be more adventurous. They brought out the beauty and happiness in each other. Paige was no easy win and Ace had to pursue Paige to get what he wanted; watching the chase was both sweet and funny.

I loved this sweet Christmas novella and look forward to reading more from Lila Monroe.

If you love romance, humour and Christmas, this novella is for you.

Paige is excited to have her first big break for her party planning business by organising a Christmas party at the mountain lodge of Ace Carmichael, ex-drummer and record executive.

They get off on the wrong foot when she realises that Ace is the “douchebro” that knocked her over at airport, however, once they clear the air, there’s definitely chemistry simmering below the surface.

When snow grounds all flights, Paige finds herself alone with Ace, and she throws caution to the wind by indulging her attraction to him. However, when a fling turns into something more for Paige, she realises that it would never work between them since they come from two different worlds.

Paige is sweet and practical. Ace is flirty and sexy.

This was a fun, steamy, quick Christmas read.

This is from the Fifty Shades stable of 'how badly can the heroine be treated and she still fall for him?' Any person who knocks someone else over and doesn't apologise is a self-important arse. Anyone who makes a pass at a vulnerable employee is even worse. Or shows off his toys like...I dunno, the height of douchery.
It read like the fantasy of a particularly naive teenager. I gave up at halfway as my interest and sympathy in either character had been lost.
There are editing and sentence construction problems which cemented the one star for me.

I wasn't sure about this story at first but the characters grew on me and I liked the relationship development but felt it needed a few more chapters to complete the story better. I also sympathise with hearing your mother's voice in your head when you don't want to!

Every good girl has a wild side – don’t they?
Well, Paige has lived life as the good girl for far too long, living up to everyone’s expectations and never having a foot or hair out of place.
Her mother’s instruction manual never missed a single page in her blow by blow account of social acceptability, except it missed the very Paige it needed to focus on because all the while she was just doing what everyone expected of her, her life never afforded her the opportunity to be the woman she wanted to be for herself.
But this time, this opportunity, it is her time to shine, her chance to stand tall and stand on her own two feet – her business will either sink or swim with her at the helm and she is determined that she has what it takes to succeed…and so Aspen here she comes.
I liked Paige, I liked that she was devoted to what she did, that she was able to stand on her own two feet and take charge of a situation. She had plenty of practice at dealing with difficult people and situations but dealing with her latest client… well that was a new one on her.
Ace wasn’t an easy man, he had, had the rock star career, which was tragically cut short following an accident but he didn’t quit the industry, he just moved over to the management side but his loss lay heavy in his heart whether he would admit it or not.
Deciding to imbibe in a little holiday spirit, Ace opens his doors and decides to throw a party for the great and good of the music industry but getting it off the ground and everything under way – that is Paige’s problem, nothing too problematic then, unless of course you count Ace himself that is.
