Product description

These innovative one size fits all next generation car tyre chains use an innovative and modern 'track' chain system rather than traditional 'link' chain system. This allows greater surface area of the tire chain to be in contact with the road or snow when compared to traditional snow chains giving you much better traction in the snow or icy road conditions! These universal fit snow tire chains can also be driven safely between snow and tarmac without the need to pull over and remove them as they still leave a large proportion of rubber in contact with the ground. The MITA snow chains can easily be fitted at the roadside without the need to jack the vehicle making them super fast and easy to install especially on low clearance vehicles such as sports cars.

Horrible product, not worth £300 more like £30....

I was given this product to test as I work for a car spares dealership.

They are not as practical as they make out to be, the chains fall to bits, if you leave them ready built in the boot of your car when you come to use them there are bits all over your boot, I had to look under the rear seats to find some of the links after driving 5 miles with them in the boot.

Once on, if you can get them on they are ok but if you look at the difference between spending £300 when it might just snow in the uk or £20 for bog standard chains. I would go bog standard every time.

Looks like a good idea to begin with, until you actually try to live with them.

I took them to a plate metal worker who commented that in the box was approx £40 worth of metal, and he could press some out for an additional £10.

If you want to throw money away then buy some, otherwise stick to good old chain.

Fantastic Concept - Not So Good In Practice

As a regular user of snow chains, I have been looking for an alternative to the normal chains which are limited by the size of tyre, very few go up to 20"+ wheel sizes.
Also fitting snow chains is a real pain! Its typically cold, dark, and fitting the normal chains is a real dirty business as you have to get behind the wheels to fit them.
These chains which look more like an armadillo take some practice to get on and off and in honesty they need to do some more work on the design to make this a simple fit as
it appears on the website? The benefits are they will fit (almost) any tyre and do offer very good grip, little noise, and can be used on tarmac without any real damage to the the tyre
or the road. Getting them off is less complex and they are easy to store. Perhaps the next generation will solve the initial install problems??

Nice Idea, but not quite there yet

I was attracted by these chains as I liked the look of them especially as they were compact and looked like they provide better grip than the "spider" type of chain which I had used previously and are very easy to fit and remove. I believed that the cost of the product at £300 meant that it would be a premium product, so when they advertise "easy to fit" it would be.

Unfortunately this is not a full review, as I couldn't fit them at all. I managed to fit them to the wheel off the car, but couldn't for the life of me get them to fit on the car, even with the help of the UK distributors. Also, when I was trying on a cold day (-5) the chains started falling to pieces as I was trying to fit them, not very encouraging for deploying in real life. I'd love to hear a genuine positive review (I couldn't find any before I bought) but I was left with 13Kg of scrap metal. Not what you expect for the money.

It would be great to have an alternative to the constant "change your car and you have to change your snowchains", but in my view, these are not yet viable. Good luck if you try them.
