Sniper Elite V2

The sequel to Rebellion’s highly-acclaimed 2005 game Sniper Elite, Sniper Elite V2 continues to offer gamers the most authentic World War II sniping experience by putting them in the middle of war-torn Berlin amidst the frenzied final battle between German and Russian forces.

Berlin 1945. V2 Rockets with deadly nerve gas are primed to launch. An army of German and Russian soldiers stand in your way. Make every single bullet count or the world dies with you.

It’s a heart-stopping race against time to save millions of people…

Game Features:

  • X-Ray Kill Cam
Amazing “kill cam” technology showcases what really happens when a bullet enters an enemy’s body, allowing players to see hearts and lungs tear, livers burst, bones and teeth shatter, and entrails fall out.

  • Sniping Simulation
Sniper Elite V2 features detailed sniping simulation with advanced ballistics, taking into account gravity, wind, velocity, bullet penetration, aim stability and more. Guaranteed to provide players with the most realistic simulation of military sharpshooting yet available.

  • Sniper's Choice
Players will often find themselves facing a choice of the perfect shot that leaves them catastrophically exposed or a more difficult route that means they can continue their mission.

  • Authenticity
The game features authentic World War II Berlin locations as well as vehicles, weapons such as the Springfield M1903, the Gewehr 43 and the Mosin-Nagant 1891/30, and uniforms modeled after the original versions.

  • Use The Environment
The slightest changes in the environment need to be taken into account to move into the perfect position, observe the quarry, take the shot and slip away unnoticed.

“Sniper Elite V2 is a markedly different sort of shooter, and should be celebrated as such.” Edge

Not possible to play as it is an online game, also in single player mode you have to be connected otherwise it doesn't work .
very disappointed as on the box it's written that it is only required to open an account on steam. steam requires uploading of 6 gb on line! if I purchase an item I want to be sure that I can use it whenever I like.
otherwise happy of amazon as it arrived on time.

I loved it. It really reminded me of the original Medal Of Honour game in the way that it's laid out.

Yes - It's linear. Despite there being open areas you can only ever go on one or two directions.
Yes - It's scripted. (On the V2 level you always set off the alert on your third kill, no matter how stealthy you have been)
Yes - There is the rooftop level where enemy snipers "pop up" from nowhere after you have already searched that area.
Yes - It's not realistic. You have to stretch your imagination to believe you could take out a tank with a single bullet to the fuel tank, or fully recover from any wound in 5 seconds.

... and despite that I couldn't get enough of it. It you are the kind of person who wants reality, this game is definitely not for you.
However if you're the kind of person who enjoyed the early (WW2) Medal Of Honour series then I think you'd have a blast with this game. My only realy criticism was that it is fairly short. (I played it through in less than 30 hours) but I'm pretty sure we'll see some add-on missions in the future and the multi-player is popular.

My best advice - Try the demo...it pretty much sums up the whole feel of the single-player game.

Sniper Elite V2 is an enjoyable shooter, however it has several issues:

1. Poor AI, we're talking very poor.
2. Snipers should be stealthy yet as several parts of the game you have no option but a frontal assault, Rambo style.
3. Lack of destructive environment, although the place looks ruined you rarely see it change even with tanks shooting walls or explosives going off next to wooden doors.
4. Too many inaccessible locked buildings, I wanted to be able to access all areas but you are limited in where you can go.
5. Lastly soldiers and vehicles won't spawn until you reach a certain part of the map and may spawn right next to you if you're unlucky, again ruining the whole stealthy approach.

I did however enjoy the game, the kill cam is a fantastic twist and on the whole it's an enjoyable shooter with nice graphics, lovely sound and gripping music. It registered on steam and so far has been far cheaper on Amazon and elsewhere.

Worth getting, but not at full £30+ price it's being sold for as a digital download.

To stand out in the crowd of shooters available in recent years, you have to have a unique selling point. This could be the physics based wonder of the ‘Half Life’ series, the sublime co-op of ‘Left 4 Dead 2’, or the creation of a rich and luxurious world like ‘Bioshock’. 505 forwent all these ideas in favour of ultraviolent death animations. There is nothing like trying to argue with people that games are mature when they see you put a bullet through a Nazi’s head from 100 yards and watch the X-ray image as their skull splits. If this is the type of thing you detest in modern gaming, perhaps ‘Sniper Elite 2’ is not for you.

What ‘Sniper elite 2’ is, is a solid FPS with a pretty sick mechanic at its centre. Your role is to work your way through a level taking out the enemy, in most cases from a sniper length distance. During the level you will come across a set piece that requires a little more thought – a harder shot etc. These moments are fun, but feel a lot like the staged moments that have made ‘Call of Duty’ such a popular franchise, but also a bland one. It is the more open areas that prove the best fun. You may be in part of a ruined building and have to make it over to the other side. Stealth and long shots are your allies; you make your own story and gameplay as you progress through the level.

For a sniper game to work, the sniping mechanic has to be strong. That is certainly the case here, you feel like a superhuman as you rattle off another incredible shot. However, after a while it becomes too farfetched. One scenario had me wiping out what felt like a full battalion with only my sniper rifle – great arcade action, but not the more realistic approach I expect from a sniper based game. ‘Sniper Elite 2’ is mindless fun and 505 obviously went for this with their gratuitous death sequences. If you are looking for some daft action, then this is a very solid game, but no more.

SIMPLE REVIEW

PROS: .X-ray Kill cam, you're a sniper XD ,you get to blow peoples brains out, cool devices such as trip wires etc.

CONS: .Terrible enemy AI, Lack of diversity in missions, can be repetitive , can be frustrating(especially when you're up against a flipping tank! The graphics aren't amazing, the aiming assistance (the red triangle which shows where your bullet will end up is sometimes barely visible and is useless in a massive fire-fight. Secondary weapons are ridiculously inaccurate, Cannot be stealthy as such... they will spot you quite easily.

MORE IN DEPTH REVIEW BELOW

THE GAME

As much as you try to be stealthy they will always spot you and then run around like headless chickens.
It's a good game... I think :/ I haven't completed it yet and so far it's alright... It would be better I think if the x-ray kill cam had a bit more variation as it can get a bit repetitive at times.
Some of the missions are a bit frustrating when you don't have any ammo for your Tommy gun and you are up against quite a lot of people at close range, but I managed to get past that. The trip wires can be fun however it is rarely the case where they get that close to you to set them off. Although the demo made this game looked promising it and I'm sure you have played it to death like I have I was really looking forward to the full version and some more diversity in the game play. But overall I could not recommend the game to any of my friends as it is too repetitive and frustrating however I think if you play it in small amounts it can be bearable and fun at the same time. When you are playing this game I think the things that let it down is the terrible AI and the un sniper like stealth which you attempt to undertake just fails.
