I recognise that it's very cheap, but you're better off trying to make one yourself. I have what I feel is a normal size face, with normal-sized eye socket, and I can't for the life of me get this thing on, let alone stay there. The plastic also falls out extremely easily, meaning that as soon as you try a little aggression to squeeze it into your eye socket
, it just falls apart.

With Smiffys monocle on a cord, you get exactly what you pay for.

The monocle consists of a transparent plastic disc about 1.5" in diameter, set within a flexible rubber hoop and attached to about 12" of thin nylon string.

The first problem with it is that the disc very easily pops out of the rubber hoop, then you have the disc itself. Looking through this is what I expect having a cataract is like - its far from crystal clear and will probably be a real headache if you have to look through it for any amount of time.

So it's a completely bog-standard costume prop, but as it comes at a completely bog standard price then what would you expect.

The piece of clear plastic is held in places by a rubber out, with a cord attached. The plastic "lens" fell out by the 2nd or 3rd time I tried to wear the monocle properly and I lost the lens. I therefore got about 30 seconds use out of it. If I could have bought a better one from Amazon, I would have, but this was the only option, and it wasn't really worth the effort...

As a woman I have never been able to grow a really good moustache. Then I bought this (based on the photo of the man with the bushy black stunner under his top lip) and now have a full, glossy, tash-tastic top lip. Then I realised that I was actually buying just a monocle and my moustache fell out. I recommend this if you want a really good tash but don't know you're not buying one.

Its very cheap and nasty. It was amusing while it lasted. Which was about 1 day. If it's just for one use then it's fine but it is the least durable thing I've ever owned.

This item is very cheap so I expected it to be quite basic. The monocle is actually quite large, so difficult to hold in place with your eyebrow/cheek. The cheap plastic lens came out a few times whilst handling/using. OK for a one-off, if you're going to use it more than once I'd look for a more expensive item.

This was just what I needed for a fancy dress outfit, can't believe I got it for under a £1 it was commented on, I used it & have lent it out to 2 further people & it is now in the childrens play box, so well made .& yes I would recommend this no problem.

Arrived promptly.

Design:

The monocle is basically a small clear bit of plastic inside a rubber ring which has a bit of string attached to it.
The rubber ring comes off the plastic disc fairly easily, which is quite annoying.
The clear disc is quite scratched and hard to see through. Which is very annoying, but then it is a toy.
I'd recommend getting the monocle a few days before the event it is needed for. This is so that you can practise using it - I found that it can use quite a few eyebrow muscles (muscles that I didn't realise where there!)

Fun:
It was great fun. I bought the monocle for a laugh at a social event. It went down a treat and garnered lots of laughs.

The fun definitely outweighs the quality of the product :D
