It's also too short in my view, to be called a book, but then I am fussy on book length and feel too many self-publishers sell books that are too brief. Having said all this, it's free and undoubtedly invaluable to new self-publishers and for Smashwords fans so I can't say any of this is criticism; it is a great resource for the right target market, and nice of Mr Coker to invest his time in it.
I will recommend this book to someone who wants to start marketing their book and hasn't done any research whatsoever and need a guide they can access remotely.
I got this book for free and I wouldn't recommend paying for it if it ever becomes chargeable because before reading the book, I had found free resources (including the smashwords website) that had more or less the same exact info.
Firstly, the general advice on guest blogging etc is true - but most of this is common sense. It makes a nice checklist but otherwise is not hugely innovstive.
The best bit in here is on press releases. Coker clearly knows his stuff, and the advice is straightfoward telling you how to write a press release and where to release it to - for free. It's a solid way to get some extra coverage, and it's advice any author should be following.
I can't see why you wouldn't pick up this title if you were self publishing - it is free after all. Just pick and choose the bits you need and leave the rest. There's nothing to lose and if you find you know it all you can just stop reading.
