Sly 2: Band of Thieves is the team's second installment to their successful "Greatest Hits" debut title, Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, which has sold more than one million copies worldwide since its launch in September 2002. Recognized for their artistic style, creativity, superior technology and brilliant storytelling abilities, Sucker Punch pushes the boundaries and revolutionizes the character-based action-adventure genre once again. Sly 2: Band of Thieves features Sly, Bentley, and Murray along with a cast of new characters that work together to pull of a string of big heists. Sly 2: Band of Thieves will catapult players into an exhilarating journey of thievery, with a plot full of drama, deceit, and surprising twists that will keep gamers guessing who's really conning who?!
With the welcome return of Sly Cooper and company, PlayStation 2 gamers are once again treated to an exemplary action adventure that happily reaches the highs of the first game. And whats more, Sly 2: Band of Thieves has a fair few new tricks up its sleeve too.
This time round, the task in hand is to locate the remains of boo-hiss baddie Clockwerk, which naturally enough have gone missing. This aim subsequently splits the game down into numerous locations, each of which present different challenges to Sly and his team. And thanks to a winning marriage of stealth, platforming action and puzzle solving, the challenges are hard not to enjoy.
What really adds to the fun is the games wonderful style. Borrowing clichés liberally from lots of heist movies, theres a charming tongue-in-cheek approach to Sly 2. Furthermore, its also adopted a free-roaming mission structure that allows you to tackle its elements in the order you prefer. This certainly gets round the problem of frustratingly getting stuck in certain areas--now you can go off elsewhere and make progress, and come back to the tricky bits later.
With clever level design, a fair dollop of suspense and some genuinely engrossing gameplay, Sly 2: Band of Thieves is ultimately a very successful sequel. Whilst admittedly not straying too far from the winning formula of the original, it nonetheless presents interesting new challenges, a fair few new ideas and a whole heap of entertainment. Cant really say fairer than that.--Simon Brew

There are several changes to the original format. The levels are less linear, there are more sub-games, you can now play missions as any three of the main characters (Sly, Bentley and Murray, each with their own unique abilities), there is now no longer a one-hit kill life system, and the abilities system is now more complex with abilities chosen and assigned to buttons. These improvements have enhanced the game significantly, increasing its lifespan and playability.
Graphically, not much has changed. There are noticably more glitches than in the previous game but nothing serious enough to detract in any way from gameplay, and they still look fitting and polished, of a very high standard for any platform title. The music is unobtrusive and fits in well with the game. Voicing is comical and available in a variety of languages.
Like the previous game, the responsive controls and slick, fast gameplay make this title truly absorbing and a joy to play. All of the characters handle differently, but really well. However, the side games are not quite so lucky - the shoot 'em up levels are unpleasantly difficult because of poor controlling and design, however they were not enough to take away from the overall experience.
All in all, this is a perfect platform title for adults and kids alike. Of all platform games I've ever played, I've never known one which appeals to all players I've introduced it to as strongly as Sly. A true undiscovered classic - you will not regret this purchase.
I played the first Sly instalment and really enjoyed it although was unable to beat the Big Boss at the end - and may have the same problem with this game.
But no matter, for a platform lover like me this game is fantastic. Lots of missions to complete as Sly, Bentley (the turtle) and Murray (the pink hippo) involving many different skills, shooting, jumping, flying e.t.c.
I highly recommend this game for all platform gamers and can't wait to finish it and play Sly 3!!
So i would say definatley buy this game becuase you'll regret it if you don't.
