Product description
Slow Train Coming is the nineteenth studio album by American singer/songwriter Bob Dylan, released on August 20, 1979 by Columbia Records. It was the artist's first effort since becoming a born-again Christian, and all of the songs either express his strong personal faith, or stress the importance of Christian teachings and philosophy. The evangelical nature of the record alienated many of Dylan's existing fans; at the same time, many Christians were drawn into his fan base.

This is the kind of album that you appreciate and enjoy more and more, the more you listen to it. Dylan's vocals are as rough and passionate as ever. The lyrics, which may seem superficial at first hearing, have a depth and meaning which rewards thoughtful listening. The backing has a Gospel feel, yet with a light touch which enhances rather than interferes with Dylan's style. It was hard to know what to make of this album when it first came out but, like a fine wine, it seems to have got better through the years, and is now rightly regarded by many as a classic - yet another demonstration that Dylan has so often been ahead of his time.

My original copy of this record has been played so many times it's clearly worn , so having this new copy is wonderful. The pressing itself is very nice , flat and with out any clicks or rumbles. The mastering is just right , it sounds marvellous.
It's a great listen , the songs are very well written and the playing is spot on , it's nice to hear Mark Knopfler tinkling away in the back ground.

Larry Norman said that this was the best rock gospel album he's ever heard. I'm not sure about that, because some of Larry's are in contention, but this CD is simply brilliant.
It needs listening to a few times, but stick with it and you'll have your reward.
Bob Dylan wrote some of his best work during his "Christian" spell and you can tell that he was really in the groove then.
Maybe he was blessed, but certainly he put over the message in his wonderful lyrics and music.

This offering deserved more praise than it got. It was released when Dylan first converted to Christianity. This is reflected in the lyrics. However, this does not reduce the quality of the tracks featured.

I bought this to replace my old copy so I already know this has nothing on blood on the tracks or desire I could mention another few Dylan cds but its best just to say it completes my collection.
