I have had trouble posting this review as Amazon keep telling me I'm not meeting their review guidelines. Therefore, if you would like to read this review in more detail then you will find it on Goodreads.

I found the heroine, Sadie completely unlikeable. I didn't like her selfishness and definitely not her actions. For the last two months her husband Nathan has been acting cold towards her. He now goes out a lot with his friends and Sadie is left feeling abandoned and lonely. Then her new neighbour Finn moves in across the hall. The first night he moves in is a night that Nathan goes bowling with his friends, so she invites Finn over for dinner. There is an obvious attraction between them.

Next day, Sadie finds what she believes to be lipstick on Nathan's tie. She then starts to obsess that he is having an affair yet in no time at all, it's actually her who has the affair with Finn. The story takes place over a few weeks, so it's not a long standing affair but she also discovers that Finn is married and has a child. Finn believes him and Sadie can be together. He doesn't seem to think of any consequences to their actions. He instead, belives in fate and that him and Sadie are destined to be together. I didn't think much of Finn's character. He was living in dreamland if you ask me.

I quite liked Nathan. I definitely felt sorry for him having to be married to such a selfish person as Sadie! We slowly learn why Nathan has distanced himself from Sadie the last few months. When Sadie finds out that he has discovered one of her secrets, she also thinks he has guessed about her and Finn but of course he hadn't. He is obviously angry but his anger only seems to last a few hours.

I won't spoil it by saying which man Sadie chooses to be with but in my view, she deserved neither man.

it was amazing

Read from February 27 to 28, 2016

I wasn't sure if I would like this book, I'm not a fan of couples that cheat but I thought go into it with an open mind. So I did, I soon found myself both sympathising and hating both male characters. Shock horror! since technically it should have been Sadie, since she's the women cheating on her husband. There is a whole lot more going on though, underlying issues that aren't talked about. They have just simmered away under the surface, Nathan has always been a loving almost over the top husband suddenly he is completely the opposite. I did understand to a point when near the end we find out why he is being like he is, but I also felt a lot of his issues he had brought on himself. Fin, well what can I say? I think in the end Sadie makes the right decision. this story is complex, lots going on some of which is very deep and hurtful. In the end I'm glad I went for it and read it, its a great story that opens up your mind to the reasons behind the why?. To find out what made me change my mind you will have to read it yourself, I don't think you will be disappointed in any way.

Oh dear I hate cheaters but this book is so damn readable you have to keep going. Finn strikes me as an almost stalker but really his soul mate hasn't appeared yet.

But the book, beautifully crafted, twisted and so much pain but it's not the affair it's the unspoken and avoided discussions that should of happened but never did. Once the dam was opened it all came out. So much pain on both sides that with a little understanding and discussion may have helped even though it was never the right time.

Would love to see another book where these two are touched on just to see where they are.

I am a little at odds with some of the comments about this novel in that surely reading would become very boring if authors only wrote about lovely people with no faults or character flaws. Yes, Sadie in particular displayed some less than favourable characteristics but she did have redeeming qualities too and there were a couple of situations where "wronged" Nathan was beyond cruel in the manner of his rejection of her attempts to put things right between them. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I'm looking foward to the next one.

This is my first book by Jessica Hawkins and I was excited to read it aftering reading the blurb and all the reviews. I loved the book and I was taken in from the very beginning. Sadie and Nathan had the perfect marriage and Nathan is the kind of husband you can only dream of until suddenly he just changes over night, stops communicating, showing affection and shuts down. Cue sexy stranger moving in across the hall the fill the void left by Nathan. Sparks fly and they have a connection. So begins the Nathan - Sadie - Finn love triangle.

You could feel the various emotions in this book as Sadie goes through the hurt and being rejected after trying to talk to Nate on several occaions and he just rebuffs her everytime, the anger pouring of Nate for whatever it is that Sadie has done to the sexual chemistry between Sadie & Finn as she takes comfort from the constant rejection from Nate.

The only reason I have given this 4 starts instead of 5 is down to the way the affair is dealt with once Nathan finds out. It was brushed aside in an almost "Oh well nevermind it was my fault for not talking through my issues with you". NO!! No one is that forgiving when they have just found out that their partner has had an affair. There was definitely angst missing from this part of the story, it all seemed to be a little rushed towards the end. I was a little disappointed that Sadie ended up with X when I was hoping she would finish up with Y.

I will definitely be reading other books by this author.
