Format: Hardcover
I study art history at 'A' level and i discovered this book through a friend. I found it to be very interesting and i would certainly recommend it to other people who have an interest in auctoneering and lost art treasures. It delt not only with the discovery of the pieces but also with the tricks of the trade on how to restore pieces with the minimal amount of disruption to it. You will find that once you have read this book you will never be able to pass by an old antiques store without going inside to investigate if there is a lost Constable painting lurking in the shadows. I found it very easy and pleasent to read, and the pictures of the paintings in mid restoration were facinating.

I would recommend it to everyone who is interested in antiques and old paintings. It is very well written and gives an inside (a view behind the curtains) in the artworld, which is normally hidden for the public. The personal and funny stile makes it easy readable and the photos give good illustrations showing the processes that are described.
