One of Rotting Christ's 'softer' albums which I recommend alongside 'A Dead Poem' and 'Triarchy of the Lost Lovers' to those coming to the band from a more traditional Heavy Metal taste. Melodic, dark, heavy metal really grows on you over the years. I still enjoy the opening track 'Cold Colours' as much now as I did 14 years ago.

This is Rotting Christ's 6th album (including their debut Ep Satanas...)and it is their best verdict of their contribution to the global metal scene. Sleep of the Angels can described as the extension of their previous album "A Dead Poem" since the group kept the melodic and epic environment to this album. Songs like "After dark..", "Victoriatus", "Der Perfecte Traum"(where the singer Sakis sings in German), "Sleep of the angels" are a presentation of a beautiful bonding of power metal with epic and death metal, and the proof of the members technical abilities. The most of the songs are composed by the Singer/Guitarist Sakis, however there are songs like "You my Flesh" which are written by the ex-bassist of the group, Mutilator. Concluding, this album is may be their best work, not only to the time that have been released, but to the present time including the projects done after.
