Another really high quality production, both in looks and content, from Michael Welsh and Capital Transport. The book starts in the mid 60's and through to the late 80's ( with a glance at preservation ). The text is very well detailed and accompanies excellent colour pictures of the areas that the units operated in, including some lines no longer in existence. As can be expected infrastructure now long gone, even on extant lines, is also shown. This book is a must have for any rail enthusiast. I lived a long way from the Southern, but still found the book extremely interesting, and of course these trains are no longer with us. There is also reference to the various renumberings that took place sometimes more than once per unit, this can be a little confusing , but that is not the fault of the Author, and he does make it easier to follow.

Full colour and presenting a comprehensive selection of electric multi-units some in configurations and colours that will have escaped many enthusiasts. A brilliant publication, but from the title we might have expected their diesel electric equivalents to be included - but they aren't. The captions are very informative however and if this subject "floats your boat" I would recommend this volume. It is the author's second volume - the first covered EMUs up until 1975 when this one takes over.

I really enjoyed reading this book, very good. To me, the geography area coverage for pictures appeared to be more western division than central or eastern but nevertheless fantastic.
