About the Author

Pat Mills is the creator and first editor of 2000 AD. He developed Judge Dredd and is the writer-creator of many of 2000 AD’s most popular stories such as Sláine, Nemesis and A.B.C. Warriors. Amongst his credits are Marshal Law (Marvel and DC Comics), co-created with Kevin O’Neill, the French graphic novel series Requiem, Vampire Knight with artist Olivier Ledroit, and Be Pure! Be Vigilant! Behave! The Secret History of 2000 AD and Judge Dredd. His current projects include Joe Pineapples: Tin Man, illustrated by Simon Bisley and Clint Langley, Spacewarp, and Kiss My Axe! The Secret History of Sláine the Warped Warrior.

Having started his comics career working for Marvel UK and the newly created UK title Toxic, Stephen Tappin got the opportunity to work on his all-time favourite comic, 2000 AD, where he got to illustrate some of the Galaxy’s Greatest strips, including, Rogue Trooper, Judge Dredd and Sláine. It was while he worked on Toxic that Stephen’s talent came to Pat Mills’ attention and he became ear-marked as a possible future Sláine artist. After painting Sláine he began to get interested in CG imagery and animation. Teaching himself Lightwave 3D, Stephen applied for a job with a computer game developer, Particle Systems and spent some years working there, spitting his time between pre-production, concept design duties, 3D animation and production work. From here he set up his own animation studio called ‘Ark’ and directed music promos for acts such as Muse and Shaznay. After directing several TV commercials for clients including Adidas and Jameson, Stephen left Ark and now continues to work as a concept artist and director.

A gift for my brother who loved 2000AD comics and the Slaine saga's when he was younger. The Grail war was one of the better stories and the artwork is amazing.

The artwork is amazing. I'm always blown away by how much time and effort is spent on these graphic novels. It makes me feel guilty for reading it so quickly.

I'm a huge fan of Slaine, I love the artwork, I love the stories and I love the way that 2000AD has interwoven stories throughout time with the Celtic Warrior. As with the others its solid storytelling, chock full of action with some wonderful twists to stories that many already know. Back this up with terrific artwork, some great colouring alongside giving the reader more of what they want and all round it's a book that's a must for any collection. Great stuff.
