My TV has two scart sockets, but only one of them is RGB enabled, so I thought I'd try this product, and I'm glad I did because I now have Sky+, DVD and Wii (with a suitable RGB cable) all in glorious RGB quality. It really makes a difference compared to composite. The build quality of the product is very good, especially considering the price - it feels solid and sturdy. The only possible downside is that it doesn't auto-switch inputs, you have to manually switch, but for me this is actually a good feature as it eliminates any possibility of interference or unwanted switching.

Good service as far as dispatch goes and well packaged. Construction looks good, but what a shame and a pain, that there are no instructions. Not everyone is clued up with what bit goes here and what bit goes there. There are buttons to press with linked letters of the alphabet, but nothing to say where any particular scart plug shopuld go. Had to wait for my younger son to sort it for me and it puzzled him for a bit too. Surely a paper insert could be added to help the less informed. I've rated the socket based on the ease of use and setup.

I got this so I could connect a playstation2, snes and a megadrive to my led tv which only has 1 scart socket.

The unit performs well and the picture is free from any distortion or interference.
You have 3 scarts in, and 1 out. The "out" scart connects to the tv, and then, in order to see the desired source, you
simply click A,B or C depending on how you have your favourite devices lined up.

Just to clarify for people, the buttons A,B and C are mechanical switches.
Think of it as a railway switch that moves to meet other lines. This works on the same principle and
its the reason why there is no interference.

Its a tad bit bulky, but to make it sleek and blend in amongst your devices you will need to use angled scart leads.

Judging by the picture, & I have had one of these before, I am very certain this is the metal version.
I was sent a plastic version.
Not complaining though. Solid moulded body .
certainly not cheap &tacky looking like the rubbish versions you see in mapplins electronics & argos all thin cheap plastic & extortionate in price.
Product works great, might buy another as a spare for later on. The last metal one I had lasted about 7-8 years.
    Fast delivery too.

I don't usually bother doing these reviews but felt I had to for this.

I bought this Skytronic Scart switch box to use with a couple of compact DVB-T digital tuners so that I could record one program on a channel and watch or record a different channel, and also to plug in an older xbox. I already had a switchable scart splitter but it was only 2-way, which meant unplugging and plugging either tuner or xbox, so this scart switch box allowing three scart to be plugged in and switchable looked useful and also cheap.

Well, cheap is definitely the word.... but first I discovered that the DVB-T tuners would not actually plug snugly into the scart sockets due to the raised part of the box. The resulting poor TV picture quality I put down to this so, as I didn't have any scart leads, I decided to simply cut out notches in line with each scart-in socket - I say simply but in practice it was not very easy because the plastic of the box is tough and brittle, I had no power tools, and I didn't want to split it or damage anything inside it. An hour later, with the notches carefully cut and the DVB-T tuners now plugged in nice and snugly, I was annoyed to find that the picture quality was still rubbish ('snowy'), and this was with an aerial booster as well. No matter which arrangement of buttons were pressed I could not get any kind of decent TV picture...

I didn't expect much for the price and that's exactly what I got. Of course, having 'mutliated' the box to overcome its design flaw, I can't even return it for a refund... it now sits next to the hammer awaiting its day of execution....

I had a similar box to this already, but running any SCART cables through it introduced a fuzziness that really impacted the quality of the picture. I bought this box as a replacement but found that the same problem manifested, only worse! The cables themselves are fine, as there is no fuzziness when they are plugged directly into the TV, only when they go through this wretched box.

Aside from the (really quite major) issue with the quality, the box is conceptually ok. The buttons on the front change the "channel" as expected, allowing you to use multiple SCART devices with just one output.

I wanted this in order to extract the sound from my VirginMedia digibox (which, unlike [almost?] every other digibox-system, doesn't have audio-out sockets). I like to listen to music on radio (concerts, especially) via quality stand-alone speakers rather than my tv's definitely-low-fi internal ones. This method also has the advantage of being able to switch-off the tv when listening (which saves screen-burn, & is anyway less-distracting). Unfortunately, this box introduces a low-level mains-hum to the sound, which is so persistent that it's unuseable in practice for my original purpose (so, nowadays, I stream radio off the internet instead). But it did enable me to hook-up my dvd-player & vcr & digibox to the tv's one-&-only scart-socket, in which role it produces a fine-quality picture & tv-quality sound, & enables me to record on the vcr at the push of a button. So, not quite what I'd want in a perfect world, but still pretty-useful. Incidentally, it didn't come with an instruction-sheet, but I downloaded that from the M*a*plins web-site.

I am not overly technical and found this really easy to use, simply stick a lead from the box in to the back of the TV, then sitck the scart leads from the Freeview & DVD player in to the box. Job done. If I need to use the DVD player I simply push the DVD button on the back of the box, brilliant!"
