About the Author

Bob Harper is a world-renowned fitness trainer and the longest-reigning star of the NBC reality series "The Biggest Loser, " which went into its fourteenth season in January 2013. He has released several popular fitness DVDs and is the author of the #1 "New York Times" bestsellers "The Skinny Rules "and" Jumpstart to Skinny." Harper still teaches a local spin class in Los Angeles, where he resides with his dog, Karl.

I already have Bob Harpers skinny rules book, and bought this as an additional book to get 'skinny rules' compliant recipes from. 'The Skinny Rules' rules are reiterated at the beginning of this book again in Part I. Part II contains the recipes. There are a good variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner recipes - they all have the nutrition information helpfully worked out for you as well. Almost all of the meal recipes are for one portion, this is so helpful - rather than many recipe books that provide recipes for 4, 5 or 6, which you would then have to work out the quantities for 1 or 2 portions! Most of the recipes are fairly simple, however I did have to google a few ingredients along the way to get american translations! Also some of the ingredients I have never seen in the shops here, so may have to keep looking down the market in different seasons. Part III gives helpful shopping lists and meal plans.
Overall I prefer this book to the first Skinny Rules book, this is mainly fit to the variety of recipes and different options it contains. All in all this is an excellent book for healthy meals, regardless if The Skinny Rules principles are being followed!

Bob Harper has done it again. He is an amazing bloke. I love his dvds and thought i would buy one of his recipe books. This is aimed at those who want to lose weight but i bought it for some ideas for meals. He sets things out so you don't even have to think about what to buy, as it is all listed at the end of the book. I am sure he had help from a chef but i love some of the recipes.

You have to get this. The best skinny recipe book I have. The meals are delicious. I have had this for a couple of months and have tried many of his recipes. Even my husband who is not a fan of low fat food loves the recipes.

‘Skinny Meals’ prepared by Bob Harper is new book of chef who specializes in recipes for cooking dishes which will be helpful for people trying to lose weight as shown in his two earlier published books ‘The Skinny Rules' and 'Jumpstart to Skinny' both of them bestsellers.

In this new book, Harper continues with the same philosophy offering nearly 250 pages of new recipes decorated with colorful pictures. As outlined in the introduction to his book, with twenty breakfast options, thirty-five lunches and dinners and ten recipes for snack reader will be able to mix and match for months and still never get bored.

The book is divided into three major chapters – ‘Skinny rules for life’ that is twenty page overview of Harper’s easy-to-follow twenty rules such as drink a lot of water before every meal or no carbs after lunch; ‘Skinny meals’ in which the recipes are divided as described above and finally, ‘Skinny tools’ in which he gives an overview of food purchases for one month, providing a shopping list for each of the four weeks.

It's nice to see and it seems fair that Bob Harper in his book didn’t expect that the reader bought his previous books, instead providing many of his key tips again that were mentioned earlier.

Speaking about recipes, each of them comes on own page and provides information of ingredients needed for its preparation, nutritional information as well as preparation procedure. Given the amount of information provided, I would say that the level of cooking knowledge expected from reader is around intermediate, so I am unable to recommend this book to completely inexperienced cooks because the preparation procedure in some parts is a bit too briefly explained.

Bought this as my husband and I love bob's exercise dvd's & attitude towards fitness. I haven't cooked any of the meals yet but after a quick read they look nice. We were on the 5:2 diet last year & lots of these recepies could be used for that

some very good recipies. I enjoy cooking and eating Bob's foods . I haven't had too much of a problem with the measurements. Wish they had oz or grams - easier to work out than in cup sizes. The book is a good addition to the skinny rules book and keeps food interesting and not boring.

I am not huge cooking fan and dont like spend too much time in the kitchen. These recipes are quick and easy. And most important healthy!! First shopping is a challenge as you need to complete your spices etc. But after that you can enjoy the cooking. The only issue I have - they are using US measure system therefore you need to "convert" them into UK measure system.
