Love her or hate her Teresa Giudice is definitely a character you cannot take your eyes off as she is so entertaining and as expected so is this book.
I read reviews of this book from both Amazon UK and US. There were many mixed reviews from people slating it as not a cookbook and not filled with any authentic recipes but this couldn't be further from the truth.
I think people mistook this for an all out professional chef cookbook hence all the negative reviews. This is a book full of recipes from Teresa's own point of view and sometimes from that of her family, including 'Juicy Joe', her parents and in-laws.
Some of the recipes also include background stories regarding the and the history of the dish and tips about how to use these recipes to your best advantage.
The beginning of the book gives a fantastic and very informative insight into herbs, their health benefits, how to store them and the best ways to use them in a dish. It then follows with related recipes in which to use the following herbs.
Next it moves on to talking about olive oil, how to buy, use and store. It gives excellent information that I have found fascinating.
The following chapters break down seasonings, sauces, vegetables with accompanied skinny recipes.
There is a whole chapter on delicious pizzas and even how to create from scratch your own tomato sauce, from picking the right tomato, to cooking, jarring and storing. All in which I attempt to create myself.
After this there are loads of chapters on recipes from appetizers, main courses, soups, snacks, puddings and even the perfect Italian alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktails.
Teresa also includes a some entertaining pages about fashion, being Italian, love family and about living the Italian way of life.
All in all I would definitely recommend this book. Don't expect Michelin style recipes as this is not what the book is about. Instead expect a skinny girl Italian version of recipes, food, love and life all told in a funny, quirky sometimes naughty sense by a full of life character that is Teresa Giudice.
Definitely worth buying!
Some recipes don't have pictures of the food so no idea what its meant to look like
The book did teach me about Olive oil though
I did enjoy reading this book but haven't looked at it since, so don't buy it its not worth it!
