it is difficult to do justice in reviewing such an amazing book where Rachel shares her heart and life concerning her journey since having become a mum. Not the journey she was expecting, hard but not the same as bad she concludes. It feels as if you are her friend that she is confiding in and other than the emotions attached to such a story it is very easy to read, with fairly short chapters if you only have a few minutes to read at a time. There is great wisdom within these pages, but handed over in a natural conversational way that causes you to pause and just re read that last sentence that you read as you recognise its truth. This is a book for anybody and everybody that we can learn how we can help and not hinder each other on our journeys through life.

A moving, heartbreaking, joy-giving, hope-filled, brilliant book about what it’s really like when life is turned upside down and all your expectations are shattered. I love how this book doesn’t accept the easy answers that can explain difficult things away by saying that everything happens for a reason or things will be alright in the end – sometimes the difficulties don’t go away, but this book is all about the reality of living amongst the messiness and the chaos and finding joy and laughter and beauty in the midst of it all anyway. I hope that this book will encourage others who are walking similar (and different) roads as parents of children with disabilities – and I know it also has the power to help others to gain more understanding and be able to support friends and families around them who are struggling. Addressing the big questions of life in a down-to-earth, everyday way, this story will make you laugh and cry, and more importantly, change the way you look at the world.

I have never experienced the things the author tackles in this book, but as a reader felt privileged to have been allowed a tiny peek into the lives of not only the author but also her family. This is a no holds barred expression of love and anguish which will enhance the lives of any reader and provide support and insight to those who are touched by similar difficulties, by sharing her story in a way that only a loving mother can!!!!!! Read the whole book in less than 24 hours "compellingly"

This book does something very precious - we are invited to journey with Rachel and her family through fear, sadness, and disappointment, through to acceptance, hope and happiness. I think it shows us how to walk together with friends and family through the thick and thin of life. Beautifully written - you will laugh and cry, but overall you will be encouraged and uplifted.

Honest, heart felt and beautifully written story about two parents whose lives and dreams change dramatically after their new born child is diagnosed with severe brain damage. You find yourself glued to the page, overwhelmed by the emotions and struggles the family are going through. The book is written with such love and honesty that the reader is at one moment laughing and in the next overcome with tears. Ultimately, you cannot but admire the strength, bravery and devotion displayed in overcoming the challenges this beautiful family face.
This book is truly inspirational and for me it reveals a beautiful message - have strong faith, choose love, live for the present and cherish every moment in life.
Thank you Rachel for opening the door to your world.
