Product description

Product Description

Writer Peter Crane envisages an idyllic lifestyle when he and his family move to the New England town of Saugatruck, and for a time all is well. When a strange woman arrives at the house requesting Peter to help her son, Chris, who has been charged with murder, he agrees, only for the local residents to suddenly grow hostile towards him. The Cranes soon find themselves outcasts in the community, and the atmosphere becomes still more oppressive when a burning scarecrow is left hanging from a tree outside their house. It seems that Peter has seriously upset everyone with his attempt to find skeletons in the local closets.

skeletons certainly isnt the worst film i have seen this year, it is quite jumpy in places and has an impressive plot behind the storyline. near the end it leaves you guessing to who did the murders and you find out that your guess was completly wrong.

Christopher Plummer is always worth watching, and the cast of the film is more than respectable. It's in some ways a very grim story that teeters on the brink of horror before actually becoming horrific. The chase sequence, and subsequent gruesome discovery, is effective and horrible in equal measure. I regret to say that it left me feeling sad rather than satisfied, though I felt it was well acted (there are one or two exceptions to that rule) on the whole. I was left with the impression that the speed of the film did not succeed in convincing, and I wonder why it is that certain actresses appear (over and over) as utterly unsympathetic school teachers. A good enough movie, but not one I'll be keeping in my collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Private vices, public virtue! 28 May 2006
By Hiram Gòmez Pardo Venezuela - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
If you know about an "Enemy of the people" or the powerful film "Bad day at Black Rock" in the middle Fifties, you will understand why this little drama in a small village of taciturn and isolated people in Maine will shock your senses and your humanity, when the intolerance and prejudices being a matter of doubtful moral, according to wrought ethics principles in the name of the preservation of the good manners and the love for truth make become a very dangerous cocktail.

A civilized journalist honored with the Pulitzer Award, who is just taking a rest with his family will know about a sad incident where a gay is considered the main suspect of the murder of his close friend.

The sum of prejudices and the way this population decides to assume "the justice" is very unusual. And our journalist will be "the private eye" to solve this entangled case.

Roy Silver in the role of his lifetime. A fine cast that included Christopher Plummer and James Coburn completed a movie that got its aim.

This movie attempts to be mysterious, but the leads are not convincing in their roles. Silver's part seems to be far and away too much of a stretch for him to get his talent around and the female lead has never been what I consider, convincing!

Very interesting film. I would recommend viewing this film for the actors and also for the theme.
