POOR: do not work

UPDATED: these are badly manufactured and they do not work together (the base & top are too thick plastic, so when 'stacked' they do not connect, as the metal contacts do NOT connect)
Received Eight units, as described;
Arrived from China in a jiffy bag.
Are as described, and contrary to some other reviews, received Eight units.
Each single D-sized unit can take one AA battery or two AA batteries (more power? but this would also DOUBLE the voltage!).
They can be tight (rechargeable always are) and the plastic is thin as would have to be to accommodate the internal AA battery(s), along with the bottom clips that work but probably wont last forever!
-that said they are designed to have the battery(s) fitted inside and left alone (not the AA's constantly put in/taken out).
Would NOT recommend.

Just what was needed and really good value

The Rolson 30 LED Multi-Function Lanterns I got, for emergency standby lighting, each need three D size batteries, but they are more expensive and not always easy to get. In comparison AA batteries are more readily available and less expensive, for the same capacity, particularly for rechargeable NmHD batteries.

These AA to D adaptors are excellent, well made and are just what was needed. They can each take two AA batteries, for extra capacity, but will work just as well with one battery, on one side.

The AA batteries are fully enclosed, so if they should leak, it will only corrode and damage the adaptor, and not the equipment they are in.

They are a bit fiddly to open, but that is not a big problem. There is also no clear indication which way round the batteries should be fitted and no protection against putting the batteries in the wrong way round. It would be particularly disastrous to put in two batteries in opposite direction to each other, so they short out. Hence some common sense and care is needed when using these adaptors. Also a bit of care is needed with the catch that holds the end closed.

They were a bit slow arriving, from Highly One in China, taking 10 days, but there was no rush to get them.

I need 12 all together and have ordered another set of eight, which was very little more than buying a set of four, so will have four to spare if some do break, get corroded, or are lost.

The battery converters are made of strong but slightly flexible plastic.

Very good value for money and unlike other converters I have tried actually work plus have good contacts both internally and externally.

You drop the one or two AA cell batteries into the bottom which in turn drop into two 'pits' which form the positive end of the battery case, The bottom has' spring' type contacts for the negative side. Made good contact with batteries.

Bottom plastic hinged base unclips and then firmly clips back into place with fold over tag.

The converters have vents cut into the sides.

The seller even contacted me to ensure order had arrived and that everything was OK.

The only little niggle I have is some of the bar code labels were fixed over the bottom tag and had to be removed prior to use, but they soon scraped off with a finger nail.

Gave both the product AND seller a rare ( for me ) 5 star rating.

I already have similar adaptors, but they only have room for 1 AA battery. So with these new adaptors, it would mean less battery changes.

Delivery was quicker than expected from Hong Kong - I ordered this on 31st March, and got them on 9th April.

One slight concern though - the hinge that is used to open/close the cover doesn't appear to be that strong, so it's only a matter of time that it would eventually break.

Not a great deal to say on this product, it turns your AA batteries in to D batteries. It allows you to use either 1 battery or two for double capacity. I tend to always use two as this gives a longer battery life. D cell devices tend to be a little power hungry so with 1 they don't last particularly long.

It took about a week to arrive (I believe it shipped from China) so a pretty good delivery time. Much cheaper than anywhere else I could find them.

These perform perfectly. I wanted to power everything from AA batteries and avoid D cells (or U2 as they used to be called). Use your fingernail to pop up the small rectangular plastic clip near metal negative base and insert one or two AA cells which go into place easily and firmly. Click the clip shut and everything is held securely. They work without fuss. Recommended.
