About the Author

Native to the UK, J.A.Hayman was born in the Garden of England in the early 90s. He was creative from a young age, always wrapped up in his own world and fantasies. He was fortunate enough to be able to travel a lot in his youth, from Hong Kong to Houston he experienced the world and gained a greater perspective of the world outside his small woodland village he grew up in. He wants to share his stories and ideas with the world. As a child he hungrily devoured fiction and now he will help feed the minds of others.

4.0 out of 5 stars it's got a bit of a potential to become a game like Alan Wake 28 Sept. 2016

Read this via a friend's request. It's an okay read, but I rarely read one-person POV's. It reminds me a bit of a noir feel since it's first person perspective - with a bit somewhat of a "Fallout" post apocalypse suspense feel dipped in the strangeness of it all (yeah, gamer brain here) - that's what comes to my mind anyway. On that note, it's got a bit of a potential to become a game like Alan Wake. It's got some surreal vibes to it, sometimes letting you come to a different conclusion a little depending on who's reading the story. The plot feels a bit familiar as it starts out, but veers in a totally different direction, keeping you guessing on what happens next. For a first outing, it's not bad. There's enough clues and questions to make you want to read the next book as I can see this become a series.
5.0 out of 5 stars Action packed 11 Aug. 2016

I don't always love or read sci-fi/fantasy books. In this case I am so happy I did. The book has action, suspense, a bit of romance and a ton of what the hell moments. Alex feels like he is not himself almost as if he is living a life that is not his. He wakes up in a field with no idea how he got there and discovers his life is not what he thought it was. He begins to find out the truth about the world and what he is. I really loved the plot it kept me guessing the whole book. Just when I thought I knew what may happen next, I would be surprised by another twist. I can not wait to read more books from JA Hayman. This is his first book and it is Amazing. Go ahead and one click this and give a new author a try, you will not be disappointed.
4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Twists of Reality and Not-Reality 12 Aug. 2016
By Carol Riggs - Published on Amazon.com

I don’t read much adult fiction, but this was fascinating. I like sci-fi dystopian and post-apocalyptic kinds of stories, the ones with twists of WEIRD. So this qualified. I loved the thread of mystery running through it; it was kind of Matrix-like in feel. The novel messes with your conception of what’s real and what’s reality, so you’re a bit off-kilter throughout—paralleling the main character, Alex, because he sometimes can’t tell either. Which is cool! I liked the slightly uncertain feel of it, while events progress and the reader gradually learns what is going on. It’s violent and gut-wrenching in parts, but not too overly graphic or gross. The ending was up in the air, but that didn't bother me too much. It’s part of the genre, and it’s paving the way for the next book/s. I loooove the cover! It fits the book perfectly.
