I wanted to experiment with RFID for a while now but some readers were too expensive. However, I bought this one and hooked it up to my arduino in a few minutes. This isn't provided with any example sketches but you can easily find them online to try out.

However, the biggest flaw with this product was that the edges of the PCB were still rough, loose fiberglass making it uncomfortable to handle. That little extra step of smoothing the edges at manufacturing would have secured this 5 stars in my opinion!

On the example sketch program the "SDA" pin is referenced as NSS on the RFID board.

Wired up to an Arduino Uno and it worked first time and reliably. Used the code written by Dr.Leong and updated by Eng. Robson for RC522 combined with Adafruit software library and SSD1306 128x64 OLED display on I2C @ 0x3c
The result is a really neat RFID scanner.

Also don't use this via the ethernet shield...
