I bought this on a whim after finding the author on social media. Whilst I love fantasy movies, I tend to prefer more gritty realism in my reading material; that's why it came as such a surprise when I quickly became engrossed in the characters and the storyline of this novel. Some have said that Sinners is a YA book, but I'd argue that it's for anyone who is young at heart and still 'wants to believe'. I think because of the ubiquity of fantasy movies of late, it's bound to feel familiar, and comparisons with Tolkien and Rowling are inevitable. The grand fantasy aspects are there - witches, elves, wizards, magical creatures, dastardly villains - it'd be hard pressed to be fantasy without them, but the world is unique and exciting and the characters in it are fresh and original. You cannot help but be invested in their journey. I loved it, and as soon as it was finished I bought the second in the trilogy, Betrayers of Magic.

This is a fantastic fantasy novel and gives Harry Potter a run for his money. A very compelling book, excellently written, very descriptive, with plenty of action and moving scenes. Plenty of interesting characters which are very well described, I found by the end of the book I could picture all the characters in my mind. Looking forward to Betrayers of Magic.

I am feeling a little guilty as I have been meaning to write a review for Sinners Of Magic for some time. That said, the book is an absolute gem of a read. As a big fan of David Gemmell I am highly critical of Fantasy fiction and there are few author swho make the grade for me. Lynette is one of them! Superbly written the tale has all the elements one would expect fro a great fantasy novel but beyond that Creswell creates characters that are emotionally engaging and in whom the reader feels invested. Don't hesitate and be guided by the reviews for a book that truly deserves them.

X Factor in a Book
I have just read the first book of a trilogy, Sinners of Magic, which didn’t take me long as I couldn’t put it down! What a delightful read. The quality of the descriptive writing and appealing characters jumped off the pages, transporting me from my armchair into world of engaging fantasy.

The story is a delight from the first line to the last as each sentence is cram packed with imagination, expression and flair. The absorbing passages ooze creativity and take the reader on an action packed journey full of charming appeal and sheer pleasure.

Seldom does a novel achieve complete escapism, but this one has. Being able to hold the reader enthralled until the final page is an absolute credit to its author. I have swiftly purchased the other two books in the trilogy which I’m eager to read so that I can appreciate Lynette Creswell’s writing talent in its entirety.

SINNERS OF MAGIC, A GREAT READ
This unique, engaging fantasy story is the first in the series of The Magic Trilogy. It revolves around a beautiful girl called Crystal, daughter of a magician and an elf Princess, who was switched at birth and left under mysterious circumstances in the earth world. She possesses magical powers, not yet developed, but obviously potentially powerful. The complex story describes her action-packed, often terrifying journey to the Magical World, to discover the secret of her mysterious beginnings, as well as learning her extraordinary destiny. The fascinating adventures she becomes engulfed in involve a large cast of well-drawn characters from the Kingdom of Nine Winters, who are described in great detail and with impressive imagination. These include Tremlon, a space-changer, Matt, the mortal, Bridgemear the magician, crafty witches, brave elves, mischievous sprites and of course the baddie of the piece, the evil Ferusian, King of the terrifying Nonhawk. Everything required for a great fantasy tale is here, bursting with intrigue, betrayal, love and mystery. I enjoyed Sinners of Magic from beginning to end; it's a great read, try it yourself.

Sinners of Magic, a Young Adult fantasy, is the first book in Lynette Creswell’s The Magic Trilogy series. This new fantasy is particularly creative and quite unique. Instead of relying on traditional fables and fairytales, Ms. Creswell weaves a delightful story that crosses seamlessly from our mundane world into a magical extraordinary one. She sets up the story brilliantly in a dark prologue leading into the story years later.

Crystal, the beautiful copeer haired heroine is 17 years old with a mysterious past and inexplicable powers. Her friend Matt, a teen heartthrob, follows her bravely, if a bit reluctantly, into the unknown. Their adventure is non-stop action and filled with breath-taking suspense. They meet Tremlon a shape-shifting elf, in the public library where he conjures a living, miniature fire-breathing dragon. When sparks literally fly, they all flee into the extraordinary world where they meet an engaging cast of vibrant characters ~ dashing warrior wizards, suspicious elven courtiers, a helpful, yet reclusive woman, a sinister witch, and a delightful wood-sprite named Bracken. And what adventure would be complete without an evil villain whose plotting threatens to overthrow the entire Nine Winter’s Realm?

In short, this cleverly told tale packs in adventure, intrigue and a distinctive world-view that is sure to please both young adults and even a fun loving, older young-at-heart audience. I highly recommend this book to all readers of YA and light fantasy. I have even taken a peek into her next book, Betrayers of Magic, already promising to surpass this remarkable tale.
