Like many others, especially in the UK, the only Joan Jett song I knew until last year was 'I Love Rock n Roll'. Then I saw her opening for Alice Cooper and was blown away by her music, her attitude, her on-stage persona...I always thought rock music had enough heroes and needed a heroine - and now I realise there is one, I just hadn't heard enough of her music before!
So I've been buying Joan's albums and whilst this new one perhaps doesn'r have the classic tracks like 'I Love Rock n Roll', 'Bad Reputation' and 'Crimson and Clover', it is still fantastic. If you like rock, you should like this. Tracks that stood out for me include 'Five', 'Fetish', 'Change the World' and 'ACDC'. The lyrics range between thought provoking ('Riddles' especially) a certain degree of self-examination (but not in an irritating way) and in ya face rock rebellion. And it was interesting to hear an updated version of 'A Hundred Feet Away' to compare her sound now with what it was in the early eighties.
I love this album. Joan Jett live is a phenomenon, but the album is nearly as good. If you love rock and you're looking for something just a little bit different, I highly recommend it.

Like many people the only Joan Jett songs I'd heard were I Love Rock And Roll and I Hate Myself For Loving You.

I then saw Joan Jett supporting Alice Cooper in London last November. She really rocked and what I heard of her new album encouraged me to go and buy it. I wasn't disappointed. Riddles, Fetish, Androgynous and best of all the sapphic tongue in cheek A.C.D.C.

Well worth a listen

If you say that you don't like Joan Jett, then I suggest that you've never heard her play! From her time with The Runaways through playing with The Gits and The Blackhearts she is never short of remarkable. How can one woman rock so well and constantly. This album along with Up Your Alley are my personal favorites, but for a newby to Ms Jetts work, her Greatest Hits cd maybe a better starting off point. But hey! for £11.99?: The track AC?DC is worth that on it's own

Ok, if you aren't already a huge fan of Joan Jett, then there are better CDs to start to love the queen of rock, such as 'I Love Rock n Roll' or even the excellent Greatest Hits double cd. But if you are already a fan, then this is a worthy album to add to the collection. Not all the songs are amazing, but the ones that work are real gems, such as Sweet's 'AC/DC', the gently melodic 'Androgynous', and the terrific hard hitting and sexy 'Fetish'. The slow burning 'Baby Blue' is also a favourite. Some of the others are less memorable, but overall this is a solid rock album by a wonderful artist.
