'Sinner' is a short but intriguing prequel to Mongoliad, introducing two of the characters readers of the series know from The Mongoliad: Book One (The Foreworld Saga) - the Brothers Andreas and Raphael of the Shield Brethren. It has now been included as an integral component of The Mongoliad: Book One (The Foreworld Saga), so no separate purchase is necessary (for those who already downloaded Mongoliad 1, an update is available).

The two protagonists happen upon a village, where witchcraft has supposedly just been perpetrated - a severed head of one of the villagers at his late wife's door making her the main suspect - so one can naturally expect a state of frenzy (The Hangman's Daughter rings a bell here), added to by Konrad Von Marburg, the rather too eager inquisitor traveling through.

Not all is as it seems, prompting the duo to dig a bit deeper in a desperate attempt to help the accused widow. Blended in are snippets of the back stories of Andreas and Raphael, adding perspective and background to their characters, as well as allowing them to get to know each other.

If you were fascinated by the post-crusade Europe of Mongoliad this will probably be right up your alley as well, even if there are few unexplored avenues in the end, as the story is rather self contained.

An interesting enough tale but anyone who has read the first three Foreworld books will have already read this as it was included in the Kindle edition as a preface. I feel totally ripped off and as a consequence would be very reluctant to purchase any of the side quests in future. They are mostly poorly written and very short. To be fair Marki Teppo strings an interesting enough tale but why would anyone want to buy it twice?

It's not that it's a bad book, just that it's a short one. There are some brief connections to the further books in the Mongoliad series, but you don't really gain anything by reading this ...

This book already forms part of Mongoloid book 1 and should not be sold separately
Amazon normally warn you if you have already purchased a copy bit did not do so in this case.
