Perennial pop princess Sinitta s debut album is given a double CD Deluxe Edition reissue on Cherry Pop.
Originally released in December 1987, "Sinitta!" features four UK Top 20 singles the million-selling smash "So Macho" and three classic Stock Aitken Waterman hits - "Toy Boy", "G.T.O." and "Cross My Broken Heart" alongside the Hi-NRG classic "Cruising" and the US club #1, "Feels Like The First Time".
Digitally remastered direct from the original master tapes, this release features no less than 21 exclusive bonus tracks across two discs, many of them never before available on CD. Featured in both 7" and 12" form are Sinitta s very first singles, "Never Too Late" and "I Could Be", originally released on Midas Records in 1983. With the former boasting an early remix credit for Madonna collaborator John "Jellybean" Benitez, scarce vinyl copies of these highly sought-after disco classics have long commanded high prices, and this Deluxe Edition exclusively marks their first-ever release on CD.
Previously unreleased in the UK, extended versions of two Paul Hardcastle productions, "Oh Boy (You ve Got A Lot To Learn)" and "If I Let You Go", appear alongside a comprehensive selection of 12" mixes of all the UK single releases. Also featured is "Showdown" - the original version of the track that become "So Macho", albeit with completely
different lyrics, which was previously only available as the B-side of "Cruising".
The extensive booklet also features additional photos, an illustrated discography, full lyrics and new sleeve notes. The daughter of disco diva Miquel Brown, Sinitta made her name on the West End stage and as a one-time member of Hot Gossip before becoming the first artist to be signed by Simon Cowell. After initial success on the club scene, her chart breakthrough came with the reissue of "So Macho" in 1986, which was followed by an enviable run of international hits with Stock Aitken Waterman and the PWL Hit Factory.

Having read the other reviews here, I can clear up some misunderstandings, particularly regarding the "Toy Boy (Extended Bicep Mix)" because the original 12" single was pressed in two versions, but the label and sleeve were the same for both. So effectively there are two mixes with the same title. Although in America they were given separate names; The Extended Bicep Mix & The Extended British Mix. The first version was 7:38 and a straight forward extended version of the single, the same as the white label promo 12" issued to DJ's (I was on the mailing list). This version was also available edited to varying degrees on the cassette single and also the Japanese CD Single where it was titled "The Hip Joint Mix". So these variants are essentially the same mix just slightly edited. One of which is included on the 2009 CD Sinitta The Hits + Collection 86-09 listed as "Original Mix" (6:33). The full version of this mix was on the original 1987 Fanfare edition of the "Sinitta" CD (7:38). The second version is totally different. The video getting heavy rotation promoting the song had an added rap, but this was not on the 7" single or the 12" single originally. So, the 7" was repressed replacing the instrumental on the B-Side with the rap version and the 12" was repressed with a 7:01 mix which also has the added rap (I worked in a record shop as a buyer and I was dealing with the record company reps when this happened). This second version is the version included on this CD and has never been previously available on CD before.Read more ›
"The Extended Bicep Mix 7:03
This is the mix with the rap intro and breakdown which appeared on first pressings of the original 1987 'Toy Boy' UK 12" single (12FAN 12), and accordingly was sourced for this reissue from the original production master Umatic for this 12" single... As a footnote, this mix is much sought-after, having never been issued on CD in the UK before (I believe the only previous digital release was a Finnish CD compilation back in the 80s...!); and on the Hit Factory Forum and elsewhere there was a clear desire for this particular mix to be included.
A minority of people seem to have expected this instead:
Extended Bicep Mix 7:38 This longer mix, without the rap intro and breakdown, appeared on certain 12" singles (including later pressings of 12FAN 12) and perhaps more notably on the original 1987 'Sinitta!' CD album (CD BOY 1)and is a pretty widespread release that most fans and collectors would already have... Accordingly, we decided to omit this mix and instead to use the original The Extended Bicep Mix.
Admittedly, this is somewhat esoteric information...but the distinction between the two mixes is accurately reflected in the discography on Page 6 of the booklet.
The 'Brand New Megamix' on CD2 is a totally distinct later mix by Pete Hammond done for the first Hit Factory compilation in September 1987, as covered in my sleeve notes.Read more ›
This is a very good album, containing all her top 20 pop hits. Sinitta went on to score more hits later in her career and brought out a further album entitled "Wicked".
The most well known EXTENDED BICEP MIX and the PUMPED UP MEGAMIX (which is a little longer 10' long but the same as the bicep mix)
As another reviewer said the original extended bicep mix is missing and the title to the track #15 in the first cd is wrong.
What we have here actually is THE OVER EXTENDED BICEP MIX (and not the extended bicep mix) with the rap intro which is very hard to find and it's great to have it in this cd BUT they should have included the original extended bicep mix and the punped up megamix but they didn't that's why i give this 4 stars.
Anyways, all the other stuff is here with extended versions of songs never released before and also the pwl remix of the SO MACHO song is included.
Now we wait for more gems to be re-issued like the following:
KIM APPLEBY - Same title
BANANARAMA - wow
NICKI FRENCH - secrets
PAT & MICK - Don't stop dancing
SYBIL - Good n' ready
BOMB THE BASS - UNKNOWN TERRITORY
J.T & THE BIG FAMILY - Same title
DONNA SUMMER - another place & time
