This collection is FUN ! Great music for the car, singalong and wiggle, do a little conga, shimmy at the traffic lights. I defy anyone to remain still when this is played, if you're not getting in the latin groove with Mr Ros then you'd better get to a doctor....in fact forget the doctor and find a mortician!
Manyana, The Queen of Tonga etc. A gorgious collection of calypso, mambo and rhumba from years ago but sounds almost as if it was recorded yesterday. I bought it after searching for a song that my Nana used to sing "The Tipperary Samba" and lo and behold found it on this surprise album. It's only a few quid and worth every penny. I'm so pleased I found it. Brings back memories of Family Favourites and Sunday lunchtimes, play it and wash the dishes witha little butt wiggle !

Until I purchased this album I`d forgotten how I had come to be interested in world music.
As a yougster, Edmundo Ros`s music was often featured on the old radio 2.
The music was and still is full of live and zest. You can feel low and not want to do anything. I think a few bars of any of his music can tap that hidden rythm
with in one`s self.
I think the arrangements are so vibrant. Recently my wife and I bought a music book for piano which featured a lot of Edmundo Ros`s music. So it was a challenge to try to emulate the great maestro`s magic.
Thank you for the album.

Edmundo Ros may have been born in Venezuela or wherever but he's always been regarded as a U K artist on account of being naturalised British
There are no hits listed in the Guiness Book for Ros who is really pre charts but sheet music was where he was mainly found.
He also predated Harry Belafonte by recording calypsos which were bigger in the U K than the States and were usually topical eg the Queen Of Tonga written on the spot when she visited the U K.
The real sound of Edmundo Ros is in the mambos and rhumbas not in the Easy Listening stuff he ended up doing
Now at over 100 years old Ros has a record of a different kind

Not heard Edmundo Ros for 55years, he used to be on the radio in the early 50's. I saw the film ' A Good Year' and brought back memories.. Play it all the time now, Little bit tongue in cheek but great, lifts the old morale, feel good factor

I first heard the 'Wedding Samba' on the soundtrack for ' a Good Year', and really loved it. This CD has a whole lot more like it. If you love Latin music and are happy to jig around in your lounge room or dance properly even, get this CD.

I remember Edmundo Ros from my childhood on the radio. I heard him again on the radio recently and decided I really liked his music. I wanted to dance! So I just picked one of his albums randomly. Great choice and now I can dance when I feel like it!
What would I have liked to know before purchase - a clear list of titles is all. I enjoyed the discovery though.
Wonderful, life-affirming music, just the ticket to keep the spirits up!

I was born in 1950 and Edmundo was a common sound on the radio then and in those days he got on my nerves, however today It is a moment of nostalgia and fond memories when I sit at home or drive my car listening to him now. well recorded, good sound quality.
