A truly gripping read. The characters are well fleshed out and believable - as are the plot and motivations behind everything that transpires. Great attention to detail in everything - the technology, the methodology of the people, the way the action and investigations take place. You will find that you put yourself in the shoes of a number of characters, considering (struggling with) how you'd deal with the situations and decisions they face. It is an amazing achievement to do anything as well the first time as Stewart has done with this book. Memorable, stand-out, impressive. Very recommended.
I thought I would struggle with the techy references but this book is written so well that you can be a complete technophobe and still thoroughly enjoy it The main character is a loveable hero and I enjoyed the different angles to his story, his past, love interest, general weirdness. There are number of gripping moments where you don’t know what or who will happen next, this is great book and I would definitely read a sequel.
As a movie fan, I've never been one to read but I recently purchased a kindle for my holidays. Crime Novels tend to be my thing if I do read (or law thrillers) and this one did not disappoint!
Once the book progresses, it gets more and more interesting, with DI John Beckford's trail leading him deeper and deeper into a web of digital cover-ups, not knowing who to trust or where to turn. There are plenty of wow moments and twists that you will not see coming and this is what makes this such a great read. It will also make you laugh out loud in some parts due to the fantastic literary skills on display here.
I sincerely hope there is a follow-up as the character and his story has plenty left in the tank to be explored.
