"A delightful book. Perceptive, open, and startlingly honest." -- Elaine Storkey

"Reading this book felt like sitting by the fire and having an honest chat about personal issues with a friend." -- Ian and Nadine Parkinson

"Kate Wharton is the real deal!" -- Andy Hawthorne OBE

"You will not be able to deny the honesty, humour, and humanity of this book." -- The Right Reverend James Jones

"Honest, funny and positive... a great deal of wisdom for both single and married people." --Graham Tomlin

"Kate knows what she is talking about, and she imbues this, her first book, with that insight borne out of experience and practice. With a growing number of singles in our churches, we all, married or not, need to understand each other better so that we can minister God's grace to each. We want to commend this book to both single and married, all will be better equipped by its insights. It will become a classic; buy your copy before it's sold out!" --John & Anne Coles, Leaders of New Wine

"Where you are right now is God's place for you. Live and obey and love and believe right there. God, not your marital status, defines your life."

This is one of the many quotes I have already shared with my church where I am at Youth Pastor at.

As a single guy in my thirties I have been hugely blessed to find this rare piece of treasure - an uplifting, encouraging and realistic reflection on what it is for a follower of Christ to do life as a single person. Whether it is for a season or for life.

The book carries plenty of healthy challenge. It dares the reader to live in contrast to how the world often depicts relationship or lack of.

It reminds us that as Christian's we can do our daily life knowing that it is not another person that makes us whole. In Kate's words, "our acceptance, affirmation and worth comes from God and only God". It is Jesus Christ who gives us life in all its fullness (John 10:10), it is He who completes us, He is so much more than any person could ever be to us. And how much do married people need to know and live in this truth. This book needs to find its way into the hands of the couples who may think they don't need a book on singleness. I am buying a couple of extra copies to give to my married friends, to be of help to them and to give them more understanding of what my life is like as a single Christian.

I am so grateful to find someone write on this subject with much delicacy and authenticity.

It's the best book on this topic out there, and I've spent years trying to find books like this. Books often take a while for me to finish, I rarely get through books from cover to cover, but this is one of those I not only read all the way through, but I read it all in one sitting.

It's that good, here's hoping that an author this good writes many more books in the years to come. If they are anything like this, I will be the first in line to get numerous copies to read and share!

This is a really honest and funny book looking at some of the issues single people face in the church. I also think it balances out how all relationships should be working in the church whether single or married and how we can be family together.Single-Minded: Being Single, Whole And Living Life To The Full

With a carefully balanced approach of positives and negatives, humour and solemnity, desire and reality, Kate has really produced something fantastic here. Her open, honest and genuine approach to a subject that is clearly close to her heart enables the reader to not only read the book, but journey through it as you ask questions of your own life and attitudes towards singleness.

As a young, single Christian training for Ministry, it was not only insightful and resourceful for future ministry, but also deeply personal and formative for my own life as I wrestle with God over my singleness and desire for a relationship.

We're all made for relationship with God, each other and ourselves, and this book helps you to engage in all three. Grounded in reality and truth, filled with modern stories and examples, this book really does fill a gap in the market that has long lay empty.

So no matter what your relationship status on Facebook may be, make sure you give this a read and allow Kate's wisdom and sincerity to open up your eyes to living a wholly single life and what that looks like for you, your friends and your church.

There really aren't many books on handling the single status, let alone one which is straight-talking, realistic, practical and helpful, but this is one of them. No-nonsense, jargon-free, told as it is, I am recommending it to all single friends. And married oens could benefit from reading it too, to better understand the issues we face and not to view us as the odd ones out!

From reading this book I have been able to have a better self awareness of some of the issues that I face myself as a single christian and how that effects me both in and out of church services. It allowed me to ask some deep, yet necessary questions of myself about how I viewed relationships - both those I had with others (Christian and non Christian) and my own faith and relationship with Jesus.

I think Kate has bravely, boldly and brilliantly written something that opens a conversation into an area that the Church struggles to get right all the time (if at all), and as such gives the opportunity for lessons to be learnt, and the chance to open up positive and productive opportunities for future conversations on 'singleness' and church.

So firstly a big thank you to Kate for her wisdom and insight- it has been a true blessing!

Secondly - if you have not read the book yet please do buy a copy - its well worth it!

And finally - hears to people through reading this book being given the chance to realize that either single or not - God loves them and wants them to know that through a deep, personal relationship with him!

I purchased this book not only because I know and trust the author but because, as a minister who has been married some 15 years, it is easy to forget the different challenges and situations that those who are single face.

The book is easy to read and very well set out. I was both challenged and encouraged by the practical wisdom it contains along with it's focus on having a God centred life. I was also humbled by the honest approach of a person who is determined to live in a way that honours God.

There is much in this book for anyone who is part of a church community to think about, in terms of the way that they relate to those who are single, as well as providing a very timely reminder that singleness is not a lesser state, but an exciting and fulfilling way of life. A book that both married and single people will benefit from reading.
