My reading time lately has been very limited, usually in quick bursts around that thing called life. I've become more of a fan of serials in general, and Jessa Jacobs in particular! I haven't delved into the other books yet, but I will. Something tells me that these two strong, intelligent characters are going to bring out the best and worst in each other. Lucky readers...we have the best seats in the house to watch their story unfold.

This is the perfect quick read: an intriguing plot, characters who are more than they seem, simmering sensual tension between Marc and Tara. It takes a skilled writer to thoroughly engage a reader in a short serial, but Jessa Jacobs makes it look effortless.

Funny thing about a lunchtime read. It's an hour of pure pleasure, similar to a favorite TV series like Game of Thrones, Girls, Walking Dead, etc. I'm finding myself having the same anticipation for this series. Like Marc, it's better when savored bite-by-bite rather swallowed whole. :)

Treat yourself to an hour that's just for you. You deserve it!

Tara has a gift and huge student debts so she's using one to help with the other, this book opens with Tara, casually dressed and playing blackjack in a casino in Vegas, she's being careful, very careful but she's picked up a stalker, he's following her, playing at the same tables, he doesn't look like a casino cop and the way she's dressed he's out of her league so it's not that either but it's something.
The stalker turns out to be the tall and attractive Marcus Andretti and he's been looking for someone like Tara for a couple of years.
This book covers all the bases and it does so better than a lot of similar ones, Tara is bright, intelligent and beautiful, Marcus is handsome and mysterious and yes I'm hooked.
I was surprised at just how short this book was, 36 pages that's all, it's a serial book and of course a cliffhanger, not my usual thing....so why then did I read it. I received an email from the author through Goodreads asking if I'd like to be an advance reader for this series, this is not unusual what is unusual is that the first 2 books were already out and they happen to be on kindle unlimited so I decided before I gave my answer I'd read the first book.
I really enjoyed this book but it's annoyingly short, what the author refers to as a lunchtime read, I'm going to read the second book now and yes I've signed on for the advance copy, this only makes a difference for the first book after that the waits the same.
I'm giving 3 stars I will stress that this is not a negative since I really enjoyed this read it's more a reflection on the length.

I was given this for Free to give my True and Honest Review:

Jessa Jacobs gripped me from the start, the only negative I've got to say though it finished too soon so I definitely CAN'T WAIT for book 2 come out.

We meet Tara going round from table to table winning game after game of Black Jack though also letting herself loose some. While she's playing she noticed this 'Hunk'start following her from table to table. At the last table she was going to play the. The 'HUNK' Marc comes and comes and sits right beside her where he entraps her with his eyes and she looses her connection of her game. He grabs her hand asking her to go with him as he's got a propostion for her.
She tries to fight it but he persuades her to go with him to listen to his proposition,as she doesn't have the time to listen to it, he tells her he needs to talk to her in more depth and meet him in the morning so he can go into more detail.
The next day he explains to her he wants her to play Texas Hold'Em in the world tournament where they could win millions, which hooks her as all she can think about is it'd pay her student loans and let her go back to school. But there's one problem that's a game she doesn't know how to play but with her technique her eidec memory she starts learning in no time.
He's still not happy as he wants her to have a make over, which he then gets his stylists to come over and when they're finished there instead of this plain looking 'girl' a stunningly beautiful woman stands before him and he wants her.

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is an amazing first book, it's well written and has all the elements to make this a fantastic series. It's gripping from the start and it's fast paced and keeps you wanting to know more. In this first book we meet Marcus who is totally gorgeous, hot and sexy, he's looking for a way to get back into the poker world from which he's been exiled. Tara is a young girl who's looking for a way to pay off her student loans and continue with her education, she's extremely clever, she's found a way to use this to help her play blackjack in a way that pretty much guarantees she wins nearly every time. Marc spots her in a casino one night and after watching her for a while approaches her with a very interesting and tempting business proposition. Can this two just keep their relationship purely business? Can they just ignore their attraction and chemistry? I can honestly say that Jessa has and incredible series on her hands and I for one can't wait to read more.
