This 240 page book goes over the basics of Sims 4, with sections headed: Simology (26 pages), Sim Living (44), Careers (20), Skills (28), World Tours (30), Architecture and Design (16), Object Catalog (58) and Appendices (13).

It is presented in a two-column format, which unfortunately means that the full-screen shots are sometimes of too small a size to see any of the detail.

It has fewer obvious mistakes that the Sims 3 manual (which was riddled with them), and so more care has been taken with the production. The text is of a readable size (unlike some of the Sims 3 expansion manuals), and there are not just one "Day in the Life of a Sim", but four of them.

However, I can't give this manual 5 stars. For me, I would have to answer the question: You need to buy this book because... If you are a veteran Sims 3 player, then you will be most interested in the "What's New?" section - but that is only 4 pages. There are also the Aspirations tables (4 pages) and the career tables (20 pages), so you can see at a glance which career is best for your sim, but I suspect that this information is readily available in the game itself (and on various websites, no doubt). The best thing about the World Tours are the maps showing the best fishing places, but with the removal of the work buildings, this is largely reduced to residential properties. There is, I fear, very few hints in this book which are a "Wow - I did not know that" (such as hint for buying a duck for the bath from Sims 3).

If you are not a veteran Sims 3 player, then this book does give you a comprehensive introduction to the Sims world, but I note the lack of things such as keyboard shortcuts or things to do outside of the house.

Overall, not a must buy, but good if you want everything Sims-related, or are new to the genre.

Explains everything from the beginning of making your character to earning your living on the Sims 4. A few little things I didn't know, like some of the hidden areas. Would have been good to have included a few cheats, but good nonetheless!

It's ok but I found I didn't need to really use it very much. I have played every sims game in the series so I already knew a lot and got the hang of the game very quickly. i can imagine it would be useful to players who are new to the sims series but for people who have played a lot of sims before it's pretty useless. as someone who already knows the game mechanics, anything useful/interesting you might find in here could easily be found online.

This book does exactly what it sets out to do, and I have found it useful. I could have found the same information on the internet, but I'm one of those prehistoric creatures that like to have a book in front of them! I doubt whether I'd have bought it at the full price, but this was a used copy in excellent condition.

I was wanting so much more. What you pretty much get is the text you have in the game all put in one place. I was wanting insights that are not hinted at in game such as what books yield the most money. But this is very shallow and basic and has little info that is not already available. There are lots of great sims websites out there that do the job of a 'guide' better. And free.

Having had previous versions of the Sims a lot of the content comes easily but there are always somethings one wants to do but don't know how. This book explains everything very clearly so I feel it was money well spent.
