I'm absolutely delighted with the guide and would really recommend the knife to accompany it. I cut a loaf of (home made in my Panasonic machine) bread to make sandwiches for the family, and every slice was perfect and uniformly thick, at my first attempt, and as a bonus the loaf went twice as far, and no patchwork sandwiches either. This means there should be quite a saving on bread, which should quickly offset the cost of the equipment. It's so well made that I can see no reason why it shouldn't last a lifetime.
Fully recommended - and what a great idea for a gift - something that I think people would really appreciate and use. I'll be ordering more!
First impressions were good and then I thought where can I keep it, because of it's shape it can only fit in a kitchen cupboard with it's feet showing under the cupboard door. Not really much of a problem apart from taking up a lot of space
As for using it I thought it was good but the wife and I were not over impressed and if you are right handed the bread knife is sharpened the "wrong way" in other words as it cuts it tends to "trap" the under slice between the knife (which is in the slot) and the base. Being bread it doesn't present much of a problem but you can feel a bit of resistance on the knife. If you turn the knife over and cut from left to right it just cuts with no resistance at all, a bit awkward though unless you are left handed.
Anyway our new "Twinkle Star" plastic slicer has now arrived from China and the wife says she much prefers this to the Simpleslice. Cant win.
