Not my normal genre but thoroughly enjoyed the series. Would love to see these made into a film. Took the vampire theme a stage further than other writers. The evil is given its polar opposite and given a chance for redemption as the series progresses

I'm really enjoying these series of books. Kira is a strong character and it's interesting to read the twists and turns her life takes. There was more humour in this book. Luke I do find charming and Tristan there's still a mystery there with him. Look forward to the third one!

Good book, makes you want to read the whole series just to find out what happens. The story line was good although a bit predictable. The one thing I get fed up with all e-books is the lack of proof reading, you get a fair few grammer and spelling mistakes which can ruin your enjoyment of the story.

Usually the second book is off and not as good as the first but I liked this one. Covers more details about Kira's family and the growing feelings she has for both Tristan and Luke.

I can't wait to start the next book.

(I was given this book for free on a read-to-review basis.)
This is book two in the `midnight fire' series, and kicks off a few months after the end of book one - Ignite. **Warning: unavoidable spoilers for book 1 - Ignite (Midnight Fire Series)**
Kira has recovered from her coma, and has had time to graduate from school. Now she's going off to a conduit town to get in some training over the summer, to learn how to control her power, and to learn how best to use it when fighting vampires. Her best friend Luke who is also a conduit is going with her, and her boyfriend Tristan, who is a vampire, will be away from her for the summer.

Things never go right for Kira though, and there's a lot for her to deal with in this book. She needs to know if her real mother is still alive, what being a half-breed means, and to learn how to control her powers, before they control her. This involves a trip to the conduit town - Sonnyville, and no shortage of fights with vampires, including Diana; who tried to kill Kira in book 1.

There's also plenty of other things distracting Kir;, what do the people in Sonnyville think to her half-breed status? Is her power a blessing or a curse? Can she really be with Tristan when so many people disapprove? What are her real feelings for Luke? Will she ever be able to control her powers?

I liked this book, and I actually think it's better than the first. Kira is a likeable character, and although I hate love triangles you can sympathise with Kira for having to choose between her tall, dark, and handsome vampire boyfriend Tristan, and her best friend and fellow conduit Luke.
