Why not five stars? Hidden in the instructions is the short phrase: "avoid using the pump continuously for more than 10 minutes". Well, I quite understand that it's not an industrial-sized thing designed for continuous use, and actually 10 minutes, followed by a rest say for 20, then 10 more and so on, allows the water time to seep down to the roots, but occasionally I would have wanted an hour or two's use out of it.
No matter. As I say, that is my only quibble. Five stars otherwise for performance. And a three year guarantee! And all for little over £30!
Drawbacks: It is not as powerful as it says - by the time the water gets through a length of hose into the back garden, the sprinkler height is more like 5 feet, way different from the 12m max height claimed (whatever that claim actually means).
The pumping capacity claimed is also nonsense in real life. It takes nearly 40 min to empty a 210 litre butt - that's a capacity of 315 l/hr, not 2400 as claimed, which makes the 10min continuous use limit too short to be helpful, whereas it should have been adequate for my purpose.
The plastic connectors for the outlet pipe are not very robust.
Apart from that, it is a useful gadget for the money.
The hose clips on to the pipe that sticks up using standard Hozelock fittings and there is a tap at the top so you can go and turn on the pump without having to worry about trying to get to the hose without getting wet. The pressure is sufficient to be able to squirt water a few feet (or meters depending on your age) and produces a spray from our hose nozzle that you can easily water plants with. It's not tap pressure but good enough. It runs fairy quietly but is not silent.
For the price it's very good.
I found the output pipe just the right length for my 200lt butts, (drill a 30mm hole to allow the pipe to exit through the lid) you can clip on a short length of hose to fill a watering can or clip on your main hose.
On the bottom of the pump is a black cage for the water pick up, this is made of a brittle plastic & can be damaged in transit, so check it carefully upon arrival.
The blue plastic moulding does not seem to be well finished, functional not pretty.
I've not had the pump very long so can not say how long it may last? I'm a little
worried that it may fail before it's time, but the manufacture does give a three year guarantee so I guess they have faith in it, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. So far I'm happy with it, good power, good price.

I did find that after a while the black plastic connector at the top of the pipe leaks big time no matter what make of hose fitting you connect up to it.
However if you twist the black plastic connector round & round while pulling it will come off, this leaves you with a nice bit of plain tube, which you can push on a short length of hose pipe, it's a tight fit, but it will go on & don't need a clamp.
Then you can fit a double ended connector (male to male) to the hose (again a tight fit) after which you can
connect up your hose with easy & no leaks, worth the effort!
Pump still going strong, seems a good one.

A good pump that does what it states. There is a standard float switch to the pump cuts out when the water gets low and the height of the support arm is adjustable. Read morePublished 3 days ago by MiikeS
