I discovered recently that using a mouse sander in a small room was absolutely deafening. Not wanting to repeat the experience, I bought these to keep in the tool bucket for next time. I have tried them briefly and they do a good job of isolating you from the sound.
Update: I’ve used these quite a few times now and I still think they are good value. They even soften up slightly with use.
Update 2: I’m still using these and still happy with them!
Update. Due to family reasons [...] I am now using these in the home office as well and they do have some positive effect, as would be expected. I still have to use them with glasses which is not ideal as it starts to hurt after about an hour, but that's not exactly the item's fault.
