Read this one as the follow on from Duty Free. It tied in nicely. You could see what would happen, but that didn't mean the storyline wasn't still exciting and stayed interesting throughout. Lovely fun romantic story.

I was given this as a gift from the author

Have read several books from this author & this follows her pattern of a strong independent woman falling for someone seemingly completely unsuitable. It's a good read, but if you've read anything of Susanne O' Leary before you won't be too surprised by anything that happens.

Chris owns a catering business in Ireland where she is successful. Her younger sister Becky has run away from everyone and turns up so Chris allows her to be part of the business where she wrecks an important meal and is then sent away to other relatives in the Netherlands. Chris then meets the Spanish man of her dreams, and then keeps meeting him even when she helps out at a ski resort over Christmas.

The plot of this book is not coherent. There is a lot of stuff about Becky and we even follow her abroad and back again and then Chris decides that she is too concerned about her aimless sister and that she will leave her to her own devices. Which she does so Becky disappears from the novel despite having been a major character up until then. I kept expecting her to reappear at an important moment but she never did.

Chris' story is simpler. Everywhere she goes this Spanish guy seems to turn up. He is at the harbour when she goes there at Christmas for a walk on her own, he is at many of the meals that she caters, he is passing when she breaks down and then he turns up at this ski resort. On every occasion he belittles her, seems to be embarrassed by her, refuses to acknowledge her to his own family, and patronises her - naturally she falls for him.

I just couldn't work this book out. I thought that the plot was insubstantial and I didn't understand why Becky was present in the book at all unless it was to pad it out. I also didn't understand why Chris fell in love. Not one to reread.

I really enjoyed this book. This is the third novel I have read by this author and while Fresh Powder is my favourite of hers I have read so far, this one is a close second. It is your usual fun and engaging rom-com/ chick lit novel so fans of this genre such as myself will not be disappointed. However, my only criticism is that the novel was a bit too short for my liking- there were loads of places where the story could have been developed (such as the character of Chris' sister Becky or the back story of the leading guy) but because these sub plots weren't explored I finished this book in just over an hour and a half. You might want to take that into account when considering value for money. Having said this, the story itself is really great and I'll be buying more from this author v. soon. If you are looking for a longer read, I recommend Villa Caramel or Fresh Powder which are both by the same author and are similar in style to this but much longer as far as I can remember.

I got this book to review for free ... I got 3 books altogether duty free , silver service and villa caramel ... Silver service follows on from duty free so I recommend reading that one first ... This book was my favourite the story was excellent .. Chris o Shea is a very stubborn woman and juan valverde is hmmm well he's delicious , he wants her and she wants him . Some thing always seems to get in the way and chris can't forget her feelings about him ... Does she get her man ... Read and find out ... I recommend reading them :)

You know the heroine, Chris O'Shea, will end up with the guy in the end - it's almost a requirement of the genre. But how they'll reach that point and the many miscues in getting there is where the fun is anyway. A light and light-hearted read that will keep you laughing. It's so much funnier when it's happening to someone else, isn't it?

This is a funny romance story, with the usual "feel good" happy ending. But before the reader gets to the ending she must live the ups and downs of the character as she tries to get her life together. I enjoyed Chris O'Shea's character. Fun read--highly recommended.
