The abandoned home of Wilfred Butler, a wealthy but troubled man who committed suicide in 1987, has been willed to his grandson, Jeffrey. The house has sat in disarray since Wilfred's death, standing in the way of developers who want to turn the property into residential homes. Just before Christmas 2012, many years after Wilfred's death, Jeffrey and his lawyer appear in town to negotiate the sale of the property. But an axe wielding maniac has set up residence in the house, and he doesn't take kindly to strangers.
Bloody and brutal, just the way slasher movies should be. Yule love it! --Dark Side Magazine

This was a case of buy in haste, repent at your leisure.
I was taken in by a fairly professional looking cover sleeve and some promising review quotes from a couple of horror websites.
The reality of the film is far from it. Some of the effects and timings are shockingly bad, like someone having their neck slit when clearly the cut and the path of where the sinister masked villain dragged his blade across did not match at all. Or someone getting into their car and the sound of the door slamming occurs well before their door is shut.
I might be accused of being really pedantic but obvious errors always serve to remind you that you are watching a film, and every time you have that thought, you lose any feeling of suspense or interest.
Not much suspense is actually generated, the bulk of the film being set piece murders by a masked assailant of characters we havent got anywhere close to caring about, and people taking scary phone calls that sound like a local teenager is having a bit of fun with them.
I didnt watch it alone, so the only fun really to be had was in laughing at it, which i am assuming wasnt the intention. So based on that I could give it 2 stars, but it has to have only 1 based on how i wouldve enjoyed it had i watched it alone, if i had even been able to endure it all, which is doubtful.
If you like home-made looking silly horror slashers that are more funny than scary, you might like it. Otherwise, avoid.
