A good book for those interested in historical swordplay. The text is accompanied by many drawn illustrations, which make the techniques much easier to understand. It is clear western martial arts were every bit as lethal as the better known eastern martial arts, and the heart of the techniques Ringeck teaches, allow the user to kill or maim his opponent very quickly and effectively. A very worthwhile addition to the bookshelves of any practitioner of swordplay and for those interested in how ancient weapons were really used.

Clear explanations and clear diagrams. Mostly wrestling, but necessary in binds.
Very useful book, much better than struggling through text of treatise on screen.
Excellent value.

If you already study European martial arts under a qualified and recognised teacher, this is a good book. If you are really lucky you might find someone who can actually teach the techniques properly. Do not buy it if you wat to learn it at home or with a mate. There are too many subtleties to the techniques that it will not teach you.
