The SIGMA 24mm Pentax Fit Lens is a large aperture wide-angle lens that comes equipped with macro focusing capabilites; Minimum focusing distance of 18cm; Maximum magnification of 1:2:7; The floating focus system is incorporated in order to minimize distortion, spherical abberation and astigmatism, which provides high performance at all shooting distances; You are not able to capture high quality images not only just the subject but also the surrounding scenery; The lens has an advanced optical construction, in order to obtain adequate peripheral brightness at open aperture; Furthermore the iris diaphragm has 9 blades to obtain beautiful out-of-focus images in the foreground and background; What's more is that there is the dual-focus mechanism which makes the les easy to hold as the focusing ring does not rotate during auto-focus, yet provides adequate focusing torque during manual focusing of the lens; In addition it also allows the use of a "Petal-type Hood" which has a superior light blocking effect; Dimensions: diameter 83.6mm x length 82.5mm; The lens weighs in about 485g

When I got the lens I was amazed by it's build quality, as well as the fact that it came with a case and lens hood! These are things I have never seen included in a package from Canon or Nikon. The focusing ring is massive and has a very good feel in the hand. It is exceptionally precise, allowing crisp focus throughout the entire focus range of the lens. The macro works very nicely as well for close-up wide angle shots of building details or objects.
I've tried this lens out on my old Digital Rebel XT, and while the coverage is of course cut down substantially by the nature of the cropped sensor in that camera (feels more like a 50mm than a 24mm), it still retains its sharp optics for crisp imagery.
If your looking for a wide lens on a full frame camera, or pleasantly wide but not too wide lens on APS-C format cameras, I highly recommend the Sigma 24mm f/1.8 Macro.
The quality of this piece is great and it really feels like a real lens. I know smaller and lighter is the point but this is a big piece that feels solid as any Nikkor. A bit loud but at a wedding who cares. Great colors, sharp or sharper than the Zuiko 50mm f2, and just a great buy all together.
Go Sigma for taking a chance on fourthirds! There are not enough reasonable choices unless you use converters and vintage glass as Ive been doing for the past several years.
I would recommend this lens for anyone who wants a fast good old school feeling prime for parties, general wides, bouquets (tough to get with the extra dof you get from the fourthirds sensor).
