This book is interesting enough at times and told me lots of things I didnt know but is not without its problems. I dont know what the authors issue with John Lydon is but he seems to hate him but love the talentless Sid Vicious a little too much. There are also numerous contradictions from what people have said in other publications to what they say here. Sids time in Rykers Island is made out to be lovely but it is known not to have been the case. Also most of what people have said is actually took from other publications often without sourcing this. There is a strong sense of deja vu often especially if you have seen the film The Filth & The Fury. This book is okay if there are no other punk books on the shelf but is biased and often contradictory. Also the author seems too have a go at everyone for exploiting Sids memory for cash which it seems to me reading about the author is all he as done himself for the past 20 years. Still made me see Malcolm Mclaren in a whole better light and is a quick read so its not all bad if you find it cheap anywhere.

I'm big on Sid Vicious and have probably read every book available, but this one takes the biscuit.
The book includes quotes from extensive interviews with key figures in the punk movement, along with Sid's mother, which brings out a side of sid that's rarely been shown before. It makes you question everything you thought you knew about him, from whether he was violent to if he Killed Nancy.

It's very detailed from start to finish, has a detailed bit about how Nancy was before she came to the UK, includes some nice pictures in the middle (which is always the most facinating bit) and a foreword my Malcom M himself.

I'd totally reccomend this book to anyone interested in Punk, The Sex pistols, Nancy or Sid.

I bought this book shortly after i discovered the Sex Pistols and after reading it have became a huge Sid Vicious fan. It includes quotes from close friends and associates of Sid plus a foreword from Malcolm Mclaren. Its ironic that the author never got to meet Sid because it seems as though he knew him very well. Theres a few great pics of Sid inside aswell. This is the best Sid Vicious book Ive read and I'd reccomend anyopne interested in Sid Vicious, Sex pistols or Nancy Spungen to read it. An unputdownable read.

I did enjoy this book but there was some parts that really annoyed me. It seems like the author has some kind of issue with John Lydon and I don't like how he puts John in a bad light all the time. I think it's disrespectful 'cause John was a friend of Sid. I couldn't care less what you or anyone's personal opinion is about John or anyone else for that matter. But when you are writing a biography, please keep it neutral and factual. Speaking of facts, there's a lot of things that's just wrong; quotes, dates and mixed up stories. Even the picture with Marky Ramone is photoshopped because there's missing one person from the photo. Why not use the original photo? I have also read an interview with Roadent and he claims that the author never checks any of his sources. Maybe that's why there's so many errors? I will admit that there was a couple of good parts in the book, but there's too many sloppy errors which ruins a lot and makes you question how accurate and truthful the book really is. This is not in the book but I can't help but mention it: I know that the author has claimed that John's tears over Sid were fake in the Filth And The Fury. But seriously? How can someone who wasn't even there or even knew Sid say such a thing. Again, very disrespectful, but I'm glad it wasn't mentioned in the book. I could say more but I'll leave it at that. I'm hoping someone will write a better and more proper Sid biography. But unfortunately it seems like most people who takes an interest in Sid, are doing so just because they want to make money.

Always been interested in Sid, cannot help admire the man as I' m sure Parker does. Well researched and also saw his film. if you like punk, please get this.
Quite humerous but very sad that a guy so young can die is the space of a couple of years after becomming famous. It does also cast doubt on Sid actually killing Nancy.

great book
