The title track is possibly the oldest on here, having seen live performances back before Velvet Revolver entered the picture, but it's great to finally have a recorded version and it makes a great album opener, very energetic. Other highlights include The Slide which is an interesting new approach to one of Duff's favourite song subjects and quite possibly the albums darkest moment, Translucent which features Jeff Rouse on vocals (letting the bassist sing? What is that about?) and a chorus so catching it could even qualify as 'radio friendly', but in a good way. Mothers Day is quite simply beautiful, if somewhat heart wrenching, Forgive Me returns to the familiar tone of Duff's earlier solo works. Probably the only flaw is right at the end where the energetic No More closes out the album; as their earlier EP showed the beautiful ballad Wasted Heart would have made a better closer, winding things down instead of working you up again.
The DVD is also fantastic, the Glasgow show where it was filmed is generally agreed by band and fans alike to have been one of the best of the tour and many of the songs only really come into their own when played live. For those who haven't seen this band live this is an excellent opportunity to discover what you're missing ahead of time, and for those who have it's a great chance to relive what we enjoyed. The only disappointment is that, presumably for legal reasons, most of the covers (It's So Easy!) are absent.
The 'infamous' Webisodes are also not to be missed. The music might show the bands serious side but their hilarious side is a must see too.
There are some very good songs on it, my favorites being No Shame and Blind Date Girl, which has a Rolling Stones feel to it.
The album overall rocks and has this great punk attitude which I feel is sometimes missing in Velvet Revolver and long gone in Axl's band.
Everyone should give this a listen, it deserves it!
Of course we have the best moments of the bands ep that was released as a taster to their full second length "IOU", "Sleaze Factory", "Executioners song" etc,
Its hard for me to pick out a favourite track but this album is the real deal so If you are looking for a proper bona fide rock n roll album then go for this instead of being fooled by Nu Metalists Papa Roach's reinvention as sleaze rockers.
look forward to more from Duff
why is that U might think
1st cause its got cool songs that talk about everyday life
2nd cause the guitar sound is raw
this is the cd that Mckagan should work of a follow up for
mr ex gnr quit VR and work on developing the music of this band ;)
