Product description

Product Description

The first instalment of what will become the companion to the hugly popular R&B Hits series on Indigo Records. Every major US C&W hit of the early 1950's is included, with 1951, 1952 and 1953 all being given its own separate CD. You can trace the birth of the Nashville Sound, as the music evolves from raw hillbilly, western Swing and Bluegrass to the rather more commercial sounds of C&W ballads, Honky Tonk and even protype R&R abd Rockabilly. At the turn of the decade the biggest, most established names in C&W were men like Hank Williams, Eddy Arnold, Cowboy Copas, Hank Snow, Red Foley, Pee Wee King, George Morgan and Hank Thompson. During the early 50's, newcomers like Carl Smith, Slim Whitman, Marty Robbins, Ray Price, Kitty Wells and Jim reeves gradually began to establish themselves, all of whom helped change and update the sound and style of Country music.
