The SiPix StyleCam multi function digital camera is stylish, light and small enough to take anywhere. Capable of storing up to 180 still images, the StyleCam can also be used as a WebCam or a video capture device. The point-and-click operation and the bundled software make it a fun digital camera suitable for all ages.
Image quality is surprisingly good when in VGA mode, although this is greatly reduced when images are taken in the lower CIF resolution. The 8 MB internal memory can store around 180 CIF images and about 65 images in VGA (640x480) mode. The StyleCam comes complete with everything you need to get started including batteries, USB cable, carry case, software and a swivel/tilt stand. If you haven't got a steady hand, you can attach the camera to a standard tripod.
The options are selected using one button on the reverse of the camera. A small LCD screen displays the current camera mode and the number of pictures taken. The camera features a 10-second self-timer and a close range macro function is also available, enabling images to be taken at a close-up range of 25-30 cm. The StyleCam is powered by two AAA batteries that last a while. The downside to the camera is that it uses volatile memory--the batteries constantly supply a small amount of power to the memory in order to store the images. So if the batteries die when images are still on the camera, you will lose them. This isn't so much of a problem if you download any images taken on a regular basis.
The StyleCam comes with a range of six software titles including ArcSoft's PhotoImpression and PhotoFantasy 2000. The software is fun and very easy to use. Simply transfer the images from your camera onto your computer and then edit them to your hearts content. For those of you wanting to have a bit of fun with family members, PhotoFantasy 2000 gives you the chance to place someone's head on another body. Again, this is very easy to do and is a lot of fun. Other software included is VideoImpression, a basic video editing package and PhotoMontage 2000, a photo montage creation package.
The StyleCam is so cheap it's hard not to be impressed with the images. It's small, light and it fits comfortably in your pocket and the 8 MB of memory is more than enough space to store all those embarrassing images. The bundled software is excellent and it really is hard to believe you get so much product for so little money. This is another great camera from SiPix. --Martin Snelling

Connect the StyleCam to your PC using the supplied USB cable and open up a world of possibilities. In the StyleCam TWAIN driver you can scroll through and download any or all of the photos on the camera. Then take them into ArcSoft PhotoImpression 2000 and edit, retouch, add special effects and print your photos with ease. But for £30 don't expect to be the next David Bailey, The camera has no flash which means no shots in very low light or at night. It also has a fairly slow equivalent of what would be shutter speed which makes high speed shots i.e racing, fast action shots very difficult to get right. But don't get dispondent the camera is excellent when used in good light and with a steady hand giving clear shots which can be altered very easily in the software supplied. For £30 which is the price of a naff 35mm/aps camera in the shops can you really afford to not buy it. I couldn't so I did.
I have used this camera many of times and each time the pictures have come out excellent quality. Alot of the best pictures i have taken were just by chance. If i hadn't of had it i would of missed out on many special occasions.
All and all this camera is excellent value for money and is the best thing i have brought all year.
is awesome technology for £30!
I only bought it for my 12 year old, as a holiday/fun camera but he is already making animated movies with plasticine models!!
The supplied software is frankly worth the asking price on its own.
Proof of the pudding - I am ordering another one for me and for 3 work colleagues, and we all own 'serious' digital cameras. (but they do not weigh next to nothing, fit in a shirt pocket, or are worth the risk of keeping permanently in the car glovebox). This
little gem does all three.
I will be taking the camera on hol with me, but will be sure to test it some more first, and have a back-up with me too.
Also - since loading all the software I've been getting some blue screens on my PC. Crashing. Hopefully this will settle down when I uninstall some of the unnecessary bunk which comes bundled with the camera.
Here's to more success with the camera in future.
