A highly entertaining and enjoyable read but unfortunately somewhat marred by an excessively large number of "typo" errors which would have been easily avoidable with more careful proofreading. In fact proofreading must have been almost non-existent, almost taking the book down to 3 Stars (3.5 would be about right) which is a great shame as the book captures the legend of Hunt and his era very well.

A throughly enjoyable book that captured my attention and forced me to complete the 600+ pages in just over five days whilst on holiday.

The book was very well laid out in chronological order on the career of James Hunt and provided good background info on the main players that affected James Hunt's life and career.

The book is long and takes a good amount of time and dedication to plough on thorough, but overall is very rewarding when complete that allows the reader to think back over a far-too-brief life of the formula one driver and commentator that was James Hunt.

A few niggles on the editing of the paperback, some misspelt words and paragraphs being added in mid-sentence (the editor should really pay a little more attention), but other then that a fine book.

A fab read somewhat spoiled by endless typos and the use of US Dollars to refer to any monitary sums - a bit annoying unless you have a great memory for exchange rates from the 70s 80s and 90s !
Paints a somewhat sad picture of a wonderful sportman, a true sporting personality as opposed to the rather plastic or yobbish variety we seem to have today.

What a character. Had the pleasure to meet him once, on the golf driving range in Spain with his lovely Alsation dog who he was devoted to. Boy could he hit a golf ball a long way! This book does not disappoint.

A very interesting book, spoilt for me by many factual errors and appalling typesetting. It is obvious that the publishers don't believe in proof-reading.

I'm not the biggest historic F1 fan, but the racing aspect of this book seems massively lacking even to a passively interested reader. Obviously the book also focuses on his private life off the track but this is also vague at times and relies often on his official biography. As different aspects of his life on and off the track are explored things don't always run chronologically. Then there are the typos and the repeated words and phrases which make me wonder whether it has ever been proof read. Worth a read if you're interested in Hunt, but if historic F1 is your thing then there are far better books.

Far too long, full of typos and errors, and repeats itself frequently. Goes off on bizarre tangents. Needed a good proofreader and editor.

And the title, Shunt, is just ridiculous, and his explanation for why he called it that is unconvincing.

Get Gerald Donaldson's book instead. It's much more to the point and written by someone who knows F1.
