A great album to have for any fan as this album was their first, and most of the tracks were written by the band. The album packs a punch with Its energy and originality, and captures the full bodied flavour of 70`s glamrock. Also this Is the FIRST TIME EVER that It has been available on cd!

I was only 2 years old when this album appeared in 1974, but having become a fan of SWW in 1978 (who could forget their countless TOTP appearances around that time?) quickly persuaded my parents to buy this for me one Christmas.
As everyone in 2003 now thinks, SWW were a covers band - right? WRONG!! 9 of the 14 songs here are self-penned and are the best tracks by far. "The Party", "CUT1E" (car registration, just listen to the song!), "I'm A Traveller" and "Glory Woman" are short and sweet, concise pop songs - usually written by lead singer Dave Bartram & guitarist Trevor Oakes.
Their first couple of singles "Hey Rock 'n' Roll" (later finding fame again a couple of years back on the Gladiators TV programme) and "Rock 'n' Roll Lady" are included, and deserved their Top 5 and Top 20 placings respectively.
The later, fuller SWW sound (lots of brass and strings, stacked backing vocals) wasn't to be found on this album, but it doesn't suffer as a result - the energy of a brand-new group finding their niche more than compensated for the rawer sound.
"Trocadero" and "Red Star" (their career-best albums) were a few years away, but this jump-started a career that's still going strong today - oh, and by the way "You Will Lose Your Love Tomorrow" is one of life's great mysteries - how did a song this beautiful only get released as a B-Side?!!!

First album I ever bought is now on CD for the first time. Hey Rock n Roll brought SWW to everyone's attention and this was their first album. Many great tracks, so good to now hear on CD format (no crackles! ). king of the Jive, The Party, Cutie ... brilliant - thankyou!

BRILLIANT! I bought this when I was 15 years old, it was the second album that I bought myself (a Mud one being the first). I occasionally search online for these old albums, this one is one that I have neglected to search for, purely because I had almost given up hope. Searched for it last week and here is is - I couldn't believe it - same image on the cover and everything.

This is a superb album, I preferred it to any of the following ones, but that is just my preference, I collect these in a vain attempt to replicate my old (large) vinyl collection on CD - This sounds fantastic, all the old 'records' with no pops, crackles or skips.

If you want to reminisce or just love Showaddywaddy this is one CD you should buy.

if you never buy another showaddywaddy album, you must buy this one, it's fantastic! it's the first Showaddywaddy album I bought back in the early seventies and I've been a fan ever since, to date I've bought this on vinyl, cassette and CD and I play it more than any other CD I own ( especially when I'm ironing!!! sad I know!). seriously it's got a bit of everything I love all the rock 'n' roll tracks, but my favourite track is "don't turn your back on me Baby". You'll love this album.

My husband wanted this for Christmas, we lost our copy (cassette) many years ago. I couldn't believe I found it on Amazon, delivery was fast too. It brought back many happy memories of driving around in our Triumph Herald in the 70's. Thanks!
