A welcome reissue for the debut album of "Showaddywaddy", first issued by Bell records in 1974, and which reached No 9 in the UK charts.
Includes the band's first two hit singles `Hey Rock n Roll' (No 2) and `Rock N Roll Lady' (No 15).
Packaged in original sleeve complete with new liner notes all approved and in conjunction with the bands official website.

As everyone in 2003 now thinks, SWW were a covers band - right? WRONG!! 9 of the 14 songs here are self-penned and are the best tracks by far. "The Party", "CUT1E" (car registration, just listen to the song!), "I'm A Traveller" and "Glory Woman" are short and sweet, concise pop songs - usually written by lead singer Dave Bartram & guitarist Trevor Oakes.
Their first couple of singles "Hey Rock 'n' Roll" (later finding fame again a couple of years back on the Gladiators TV programme) and "Rock 'n' Roll Lady" are included, and deserved their Top 5 and Top 20 placings respectively.
The later, fuller SWW sound (lots of brass and strings, stacked backing vocals) wasn't to be found on this album, but it doesn't suffer as a result - the energy of a brand-new group finding their niche more than compensated for the rawer sound.
"Trocadero" and "Red Star" (their career-best albums) were a few years away, but this jump-started a career that's still going strong today - oh, and by the way "You Will Lose Your Love Tomorrow" is one of life's great mysteries - how did a song this beautiful only get released as a B-Side?!!!
This is a superb album, I preferred it to any of the following ones, but that is just my preference, I collect these in a vain attempt to replicate my old (large) vinyl collection on CD - This sounds fantastic, all the old 'records' with no pops, crackles or skips.
If you want to reminisce or just love Showaddywaddy this is one CD you should buy.
